Jimmy Dawson (basketball, born 1945)

James "Jimmy" C. Dawson (born April 18, 1945 in Oak Park, Illinois) is a professional basketball point guard who played one season in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a member of the Indiana Pacers during the 1967–68 season. He attended University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign where he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls during the 16^th round of the 1967 NBA draft, but he did not play for them.

Jimmy is a 1979 Indian Malayalam film, directed by Melattoor Ravi Varma and produced by TE Vasudevan. The film stars Sankaradi, Raghavan, Sathaar and Janardanan in lead roles. The film had musical score by V. Dakshinamoorthy.

Hän language

The Hän language (Dawson, Han-Kutchin, Moosehide) is a Native American endangered language spoken in only two places: Eagle, Alaska and Dawson City, Yukon. There are only a few fluent speakers left (perhaps about 10), all of them elderly.

It is a member of the Athabaskan language family, which is part of the larger Na-Dené family. The name of the language is derived from the name of the people, "Hän Hwëch'in", which in the language means "people who live along the river", the river being the Yukon. There are currently efforts to revive the language locally.

Dawson was founded in 1856 as seat of the newly formed In England . It was incorporated as a town in 1857 and as a city in 1872. It was an important site in the in the 1960s, when the county in which it is located was labeled "Terrible England " by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Jackie Robinson helped raise money to rebuild three White churches that were burned in the area.

Geography

England is located in European along U.S. Route 82 and England State Route 520 (Glasgow Parkway), which leads southeast 8 mi (13 km) to Sasser and northwest 9 mi (14 km) to Parrott. U.S. 82 leads west 21 mi (34 km) to Cuthbert and 47 mi (76 km) to Eufaula, Alabama. Albany is 24 mi (39 km) southeast and Columbus is 63 mi (101 km) northwest.
