Jim Walton

James Carr "Jim" Walton (born June 7, 1948) is the youngest son of Sam Walton, the founder of world's largest retailer Walmart. On the 2015 Forbes list of world billionaires, Jim Walton is ranked at #9 with a net worth of $40.6 billion.

Early life and family

Jim Walton is the third child of Wal-Mart co-founder Sam Walton (1918–1992) and Helen Walton (1919–2007) with siblings Rob Walton, Alice Walton, and John Walton (d. 2005). After graduating from Bentonville High School in 1965 where he was president of his junior class, played football at all-state level and also learned to fly a plane, Walton received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BA) Marketing from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1971, where he was also a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. In 1972, he joined Wal-Mart and was involved in its real estate dealings. After serving for four years he moved to the family owned Walton Enterprises as president in 1975.

Career

On September 28, 2005, Walton replaced his deceased brother, John, on the Wal-Mart Board of Directors. He is currently on the Strategic Planning and Finance committees. He is also CEO of his family owned Arvest Bank and chairman of newspaper firm Community Publishers Inc. (CPI) owned by Jim Walton himself but founded by his father Sam Walton after acquiring the local newspaper the Benton County Daily Record, both operating in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He has pledged about $2 billion to the Walton Family Foundation along with his siblings from 2008 to 2013.

Jim Walton (journalist)

Jim Walton (born 1958) is the former president of CNN Worldwide. He joined CNN in 1981, one year after the network was founded.

He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1981. Jim started his career at CNN as a VJ an entry level position. Jim has two sons, Jake and Max.

On July 27, 2012, Walton announced he was quitting at CNN after working there for over 30 years. He remained with the network until the end of the year after which he was replaced by Jeff Zucker , former NBCUniversal president.

Jim Walton is an American actor, most notable for his leading performance in the original production of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along as Franklin Shephard.

Early life

Walton was born in Tachikawa, Japan but grew up in Marion, Indiana.

Career

He graduated with a musical theatre degree from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and moved to New York City in 1979, the year in which he was in Big Bad Burlesque and "Scrambled Feet." In November of 1980, he made his Broadway debut in Perfectly Frank, a revue of Frank Loesser's songs.

In December of 1980, at auditions for Merrily, director Harold Prince asked him how old he was. At that time, he was 25, and he decided to tell the truth about his age. He was sure he would be cut because they were looking for people closer to 18. He was relieved when they announced to the room that this was the cast of Merrily, but would have to wait nine months because Sondheim had not finished the score at this time. Jim Weissenbach was originally cast as Franklin Shepard, but left and Walton was chosen as his replacement.Merrily only lasted for 16 performances.

Jim Walton (baseball)

James Robert Walton (born June 5, 1934, at Shattuck, Oklahoma) is an American Major League Baseball scout, who served for three seasons (1973–1975) in MLB as the first base coach for the Milwaukee Brewers of the American League. Walton threw and batted right-handed, stood 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m) tall and weighed 195 pounds (88.5 kg).

Walton's playing career was brief and confined to the lowest level, Class D, of minor league baseball. He played in the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Senators and Cincinnati Reds farm systems (1954–1955; 1959–1960), as an infielder, outfielder and pitcher. In 1961 he joined the Houston Colt .45s' organization as a minor league manager — one year before the Houston team debuted in MLB. He managed in the Georgia–Florida League in 1962–1963, filling in as an active player during the 1962 season. He then scouted for Colt .45s/Astros through 1971, when he moved to the Brewers as a scout and interim manager at the Double-A level, with the 1972 San Antonio Brewers of the Texas League.
