Jim Reid

Jim Reid (born 29 December 1961) is the lead singer for the alternative rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain, which he formed with his elder brother and guitarist William Reid.

Musical career

The Jesus and Mary Chain

Reid is the lead singer and founding member of the alternative rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain. They released six studio albums before they split up in 1999. They reformed in March 2007.

Freeheat

Reid went on to form the band Freeheat with former Mary Chain drummer Nick Sanderson and guitarist Ben Lurie. Freeheat did several tours and released an EP, Retox, before the members went their separate ways in 2003.

Solo

Reid released his first solo single "Song for a Secret" in 2005 on the Transistor record label, and released a follow up called "Dead End Kids" in July 2006 also on Transistor. Since April 2006 he has been playing with a new band that features Phil King (Felt, Lush, Jesus and Mary Chain) on lead guitar, Loz Colbert (Ride) on drums and Mark Crozer on bass. The band has performed his new material at several low key gigs including Whelans in Dublin and, more recently, the Carling Bar Academy in Islington.

Jim Reid (Canadian football)

Jim Reid (born November 8, 1957) is a former Canadian football fullback who played in the Canadian Football League for most of his career with the Ottawa Rough Riders.

Reid played football at Wilfrid Laurier University where he won the Peter Gorman Trophy as Rookie of the Year. Reid was part of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' territorial exemption in the 1979 CFL draft. He did not play the full 1979 season as a result of knee surgery. Because of the knee injury, Hamilton traded Reid along with Bill Banks to Ottawa in exchange for Ray Honey.

Jim Reid (1 May 1913 – 3 September 1983) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1930s.

Reid played predominantly on the wings where he was noted for his speedy bursts and drop kicks but was also used at half forward. He made an impact at South Melbourne despite playing just two seasons, finishing equal ninth at the 1935 Brownlow Medal which made him the best placed South Melbourne player. Reid was a wingman in both the 1935 and 1936 VFL Grand Finals.

He started at Claremont in 1937 and was a member of their premiership team that year as well as the next. In 1939 he won Claremont's 'Best and Fairest' award but missed out on a spot in his third successive Grand Final through injury. Reid, who represented Western Australia at the 1937 Perth Carnival, also won a 'Best and Fairest' in 1940.

Jim Reid (basketball)

Jim Reid (born August 3, 1945) is an American former basketball player who was a forward in the National Basketball Association. Reid was drafted in the fifth round of the 1967 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and played that season with the team. He was later selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1968 NBA Expansion Draft.
