Jim Davidson

James Cameron "Jim" Davidson, OBE (born 13 December 1953) is a British comedian and presenter. His highest profile roles came on television when he hosted Celebrity Big Brother and The Generation Game. He is also a stand-up comedian and writer, developing adult pantomime shows such as Boobs in the Wood and Sinderella, both of which have played to sell-out audiences.

Davidson has become known for his use of controversial jokes about women, ethnic minorities, homosexuals and disabled people, although he denies accusations that he is prejudiced against these groups.

Biography

The son of a Glaswegian father, Davidson was born in Kidbrooke, London, and attended Kidbrooke Park Primary School, Blackheath, and St Austen's School in Charlton. Having impressed some acquaintances of his father with impressions of celebrities, he was chosen to appear in Ralph Reader's Gang Show at the Golders Green Hippodrome aged 12 and appeared on television in the Billy Cotton Band Show. He also briefly attended a stage school in Woolwich.

James Davidson is a former rugby union international who represented Scotland from 1952 to 1954. He also played for the Scotland national cricket team.

Early life

James Davidson was born on 28 January 1931 in Hawick.

Rugby union career

Davidson made his international debut on 12 January 1952 at Murrayfield in the Scotland vs France match. Of the 7 matches he played for his national side he was never on the winning side. He played his final match for Scotland on 9 January 1954 at Murrayfield in the Scotland vs France match.

Jim Davidson (Armagh, 23 October 1942 - 28 April 2007) was an Irish rugby union player and coach.

Davidson managed the Irish national rugby union team from 1987 until 1990. Davidson made his Ireland debut against France at Lansdowne Road in January 25, 1969 and went on to win six caps for Ireland, his last in 1976. He took over as coach of the Ulster in 1983 and guided them to three inter-provincial titles before succeeding Mick Doyle as Ireland coach in 1987. He died in 2007 after a long battle with cancer.
