Jeff Madsen

Jeff Madsen (born June 7, 1985 in Santa Monica, California) is the third-youngest winner of a World Series of Poker event and the 2006 World Series of Poker Player of the Year.

Madsen was raised in Los Angeles and lived in the same house until going to college at the University of California, Santa Barbara to study film theory. He now lives in Las Vegas.

Madsen began playing poker at college and won a no limit Texas hold 'em event at the 2006 World Series of Poker. At the age of 21 years and five weeks, he was about six weeks younger than the previous record holder, Eric Froehlich, who won his first WSOP bracelet in 2005. Madsen's victory earned him $660,948. At that time he was the youngest World Series of Poker winner in history until Steve Billirakis became the youngest at the age of 21 years 11 days the following year. Later in 2007, Annette Obrestad broke that record with her win in the Main Event of the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe on the day before her 19th birthday. Obrestad's record cannot be broken in the Las Vegas WSOP because Nevada gaming law mandates a minimum age of 21.

Madsen is a German rock band that hails from Priesseck, a section of Clenze in the Wendland. Three of the members are brothers with the surname Madsen, hence the band's name.

Their music combines elements of pop, rock, indie and punk together with lyrics in German. They released their self-titled debut album in 2005 and reached No. 23 on the German music charts. In 2006, they released their second album, Goodbye Logik. Frieden im Krieg was released in 2008 and Labyrinth in 2010.

    History

The Madsen brothers began playing music at an early age. Towards the end of the 1990s, they had already been in two bands: Alice's Gun and Hoerstuatz. One group based itself upon the Hard rock genre, while the other experimented with hip hop music and crossover elements. In 2004, the band wanted to further develop their music and lyrics and choose to change their name to Madsen. They sent their demos to Universal Music, which listened and signed Madsen to a contract at the end of 2004.

The band played many local and regional shows and became local heroes of a sort in the Wendlands area. After playing before predominately small audiences in 2004, the band — through publicity generated by Universal Music — received the opportunity to play before larger audiences. They have since performed in several open-air music festivals, and have made appearances on MTV and various radio stations. In April and June 2005, Madsen's first two singles appeared, and in May 2005 their self-titled debut album was released. The album peaked at No. 23 on the German Charts and No. 39 on the Austrian Charts.

    PLAYLIST TIME:

    Around The Sun

    by: Jeff Watson

And as the world goes one more time around the sun,
I can start to feel my age increase by one,
There’s no way to stop this world from spinnin ‘round,
I’ve always heard that spinnin is what keeps us on the
    ground,
There’s no getting off, it makes no stops along the way,
It’s a one way ride getting shorter every day,
And now I’m underneath the gun,
Give me one more time around the sun,
Times runnin out and I’m not done,
Please just one more time around the sun.
And as the breath I take grows shallow, with time,
This hungry heart is always on my mind,
If you had to choose how would you feel if it were me,
My backs against the wall, and that's the irony,
If life's a dream we still need to see it through,
Even if it’s paradox, and promises are few,
    Chorus
One more time, around the sun
One more time, around the sun
