Jazz in Silhouette is a jazz album by Sun Ra and His Arkestra. It was recorded on March 6, 1959 and released in May of the same year. The album was recorded in Chicago during a session that also included the whole of Sound Sun Pleasure!! and "Interstellar Low Ways" from the album of the same name. The album is considered to be one of Ra's best from his Chicago period before veering off into 'their full-fledged explorations into the avant-garde' that characterises the recordings made in New York in the 1960s.
Recorded in 1959 at El Saturn Studio, Chicago, the album is one of three records that the Arkestra released in the 1950s - the other two being Jazz by Sun Ra and Super-Sonic Jazz. Originally released in a simple silk-screened cover credited to HP Corbissero, the album had gained its sci-fi cover, 'of half-naked women teleporting themselves over one of the moons of Saturn', credited to 'Evans' by the early 1960s. The album was reissued by Impulse in 1974, and released on CD by Evidence in 1992.
Just because you disagree
It doesn't make, it doesn't make me wrong
And just because you think I'm weak
It doesn't make, it doesn't make you strong
Push me too far or hurt what's mine
I will retaliate, I won't hesitate
I've told you once and now I'm telling you twice
I will retaliate, make no mistake
Do you get what you deserve
Or deserve what you get?
'Cause only guilt can break a man
Break a man more than regret
Push me too far or hurt what's mine
I will retaliate, I won't hesitate
I've told you once and now I told you twice
I will retaliate, make no mistake
You can't take back the things you say
Or the love you've given away
Success is getting what you want
But happiness is wanting what you get
I'm in silhouette
Push me too far or hurt what's mine
I will retaliate, I won't hesitate
I've told you once and now I told you twice
I will retaliate, make no mistake
I won't forgive and I won't forget
I will retaliate, I won't hesitate
And you will live with cold regret
