Jasmine (Angel)

Jasmine is a fictional character in the fourth season of the television series Angel. She is portrayed for much of the season by Charisma Carpenter (as the goddess is possessing the character of Cordelia Chase), but when she acquires her own body she is portrayed by Gina Torres, who also appeared in Joss Whedon's Firefly as Zoe Washburne. Jasmine, also known as the "Devourer," is a super being who seeks to gain corporeal form, then blend with all of humanity, making each human her spiritual slave. She feeds on humanity to maintain her form and delivers a Utopian existence to all via mind control.

Character

Background

According to her servant, Skip (a demon in secret contact with Jasmine, but openly friends with Cordelia Chase), Jasmine arranged for many of the events seen in Angel Seasons One through Four all to align players as necessary in order to create the opportunity to come to Earth. These included Lorne's arrival on Earth, the passing of Doyle's visions to Cordelia, later Cordelia's transformation into a part demon and her ascension into the realm of the Powers, the birth of Connor, and the coming of the Beast.

Jasmine (Taiwanese singer)

Jasmine (Chinese: 庭竹; pinyin: Tíng Zhú; born January 5, 1981), also known as Ting Chu, is a singer-songwriter who made her debut in the Taiwanese music industry in 2007. She has a contract under start-up recording company HummingBird Music, the same company Hong Kong-based band Soler belongs to.

Early life

Jasmine was born in Taibei, Taiwan on January 5, 1981. She began songwriting in her teenage years after her uncle died. She wrote her first work, "Blessing", after learning to play the guitar. When she entered university, she continued writing music and performing at bars and coffee shops. Upon graduation, she entered into the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, California. She was discovered by Hong Kong music producer and Musicians Institute faculty member Lupo Groining, who offered her a contract with HummingBird Music.

Debut

Jasmine named her album Yu Sheng - The Sound of Rain (simplified Chinese: 雨声; traditional Chinese: 雨聲) in honor of her idol, Taiwanese singer 張雨生 (Chang Yu-Sheng), using a homophone of Zhang's given name 雨生 (literally 'Rain-Life').

Jasmine (JavaScript testing framework)

Jasmine is an open source testing framework for JavaScript. It aims to run on any JavaScript-enabled platform, to not intrude on the application nor the IDE, and to have easy-to-read syntax. It is heavily influenced by other unit testing frameworks, such as ScrewUnit, JSSpec, JSpec, and RSpec.

Usage

Jasmine aims to be easy to read. A simple hello world test looks like the code below, where describe() describes a suite of tests and it() is an individual test specification. The name "it()" follows the idea of behavior-driven development and serves as the first word in the test name, which should be a complete sentence. Usage follows syntax similar to that of RSpec.

Jasmine has a number of other features, such as custom matchers, spies, and support for asynchronous specifications.

History

The developers at Pivotal Labs for Jasmine previously developed a similar unit testing framework called JsUnit before active development of Jasmine.

Jasmine (Finnish singer)

Jasmine Tatjana Anette Valentin (stage name Jasmine, born Helsinki, 22 August 1976) is a Finnish Romani singer.

She represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 by song Niin kaunis on taivas and became 23rd. After Eurovision she gigged in different countries like in Turkey, Spain and Greece.

Angel.com Incorporated was an American telecommunications company supplying interactive voice response, call center technology, and voice applications to businesses over the internet using the software as a service model. Angel was acquired in 2013 by Genesys and rebranded as Genesys Cloud.

History

Angel was developed by the CEO of MicroStrategy Michael J. Saylor, in 1997 as DSS Telecaster and DSS Broadcaster and were then merged into Angel.com. Moving away from the original telecaster idea, the company signed its first small business customers at the end of 2001 as a provider of hosted interactive voice response.

Angel.com was incorporated on April 30, 2008. In 2009, Dave Rennyson, former VP of Sales at Angel, was named President and COO replacing long-time CEO Michael Zirngibl. In 2011, Angel introduced Voice for Twitter Voice for Facebook, and Voice for Chatter, applications that add voice capabilities to the popular social networks and Salesforce.com's internal social network, Chatter.

Angel (Angel album)

Angel is the first album by the rock band Angel. "Tower", the keyboard-heavy opening track, was used widely during the late 1970s and early 1980s by album rock radio stations in the USA for various advertising purposes. The track is also on K-SHE radio's Classic List. This album can be seen as representing the band's early progressive roots, with Helluva Band seeing the group starting to move towards an increasingly hard rock-oriented sound. Tracks 6-8 segue to form a 10-minute mini suite.

Angel (season 5)

The fifth and final season of the television series Angel, the spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, premiered on October 1, 2003 on The WB and concluded its 22-episode season and its television run on May 19, 2004. The season aired on Wednesdays at 9:00 pm ET. This was the first and only season of Angel to air following the finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
