Jared Taylor

Samuel Jared Taylor (born September 15, 1951) is an American white nationalist and a journalist who advocates of what he describes as racial realism. He is the founder and editor of American Renaissance, a webzine that focuses on race issues and political affairs. Taylor is the president of the magazine's parent organization, New Century Foundation. He is a spokesperson of the Council of Conservative Citizens, and a former member of the advisory board of The Occidental Quarterly. He is also a former director of the National Policy Institute, a Virginia-based white nationalist think tank.

Taylor, and many of the organizations he is associated with, are often described as promoting racist ideologies by, among others, civil rights groups, news media and academics studying racism in the US.

Early life

Born to missionary parents in Japan, Taylor lived there until he was 16 years old. He graduated from Yale University in 1973 with a BA in philosophy, and did graduate coursework at Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). He has also worked in west Africa, and has traveled the area extensively. In the 1980s, Taylor was West Coast editor of PC Magazine and a consultant before founding the American Renaissance periodical in 1990. He is fluent in French, Japanese and English.

In 2008 he was named in the France squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.
