Janakpuri is a primarily residential neighbourhood situated in Delhi, the capital city of India. The area started to develop in the 1970s and was planned on the same guidelines as Vasant Vihar. In recent years it has gained popularity amongst residents of Delhi for beautifully planned blocks with wide roads, abundant parks & green space. It is home to few of the leading business tycoons of Delhi and is one of the most developed areas of Delhi. It houses the commercial complex of District Centre, along with various government offices and other businesses.
It is popularly referred to as one of the greenest areas of Delhi for boasting large number of beautifully maintained parks.
Present geographical structure of Janakpuri constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002.
Janakpuri is part of West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency along with nine other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely, Madipur, Rajouri Garden, Hari Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri, Dwarka, Matiala and Najafgarh.
Janakpuri Vidhan Sabha constituency (Hindi: जनकपुरी विधानसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is one of the 70 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the National Capital Territory in northern India.
