Christopher James Bishop (November 9, 1971 – April 16, 2007), known as Jamie Bishop, was an instructor of the German language at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, as well as an artist and craftsman. He was among those shot in the Virginia Tech shootings. He was the son of Michael Bishop, an award-winning science fiction author.
Bishop grew up in Pine Mountain, Georgia, and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in German from the University of Georgia. He was a Fulbright scholar at Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany. He helped run an exchange program at Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany. Bishop spent four years living in Germany, where (according to his web site) he "spent most of his time learning the language, teaching English, drinking large quantities of wheat beer and wooing a certain fraulein," Stephanie Hofer, who later became his wife. From 1995 to 1996 he taught at the Zentrales Sprachlabor of Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg, and collected survey data for his Master's Thesis, Jugendsprache: a critical study of German "Youth Language."
Jamie Bishop (14 January 1971 – 1 May 2015) was a Welsh cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who played for Glamorgan. He was born in Swansea.
Bishop, who played Minor Counties Championship cricket with Wales Minor Counties, and played with the Glamorgan Second XI between 1989 and 1994, made a single first-class appearance for the side, during the 1992 season, against Oxford University.
From the upper-middle order, he scored 51 runs in the only innings in which he batted.
And I spend alot of time, wishing I was someone else.
I wish I could face the world that presents itself.
But, when I feel my heartbeat slowly fade away,
I see no reason to stay.
I jumpship, jumpship,
I jumpship, jumpship.
I think we got it. Jumpship. Jumpship.
Well, you spend alot of time,
wishing you were in love with someone else.
Oh, 'cause when your lover does you wrong,
you place the blame on yourself.
How you gonna fly with your wheel chained to the ground?
I see no reason to hang around.
I jumpship, jumpship,
I jumpship, jumpship.
I feel so right.
Well, we spend alot of time,
wishing we had grown up somewhere else.
Because your mommy and your daddy
were not always mom and daddy themselves.
So, how we gonna walk, how we gonna talk?
No. Like hell, were gonna learn to
Jumpship, jumpship,
I jumpship, jumpship.
