James Maiden

James Cameron Maiden (1 October 1881 – 15 January 1958) was a Scottish-American professional golfer. He was born in Carnoustie, Scotland, the son of a payroll clerk at a local foundry. He emigrated from Scotland to the United States in 1901. In 1924 he won the Long Island Open, a PGA Tour event at the time. He was a founding member of the PGA of America in 1916.

Early life

Maiden was the son of James Maiden (1841–1914) and Elspeth Maiden née McLean (1845–1928). He left Scotland in 1901 and emigrated to the United States, became a naturalized citizen, and took a job as assistant under head professional Alex Smith at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, New York. His brother, Stewart Maiden (1886–1948), was also a golf professional whose base was at East Lake Golf Club at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Both of the Maiden brothers are credited with helping teach the golf swing to Bobby Jones. It was Stewart Maiden's smooth, silky swing that initially caught Jones' eye, and he said he tried to emulate Stewart's swing.

The James automobile company (called the J&M Motor Car Company) was created in 1909 by H. K. James.

History

The first car, called a Model A, was tested on April 2, 1909 on a 100 mile test run. A reporter wronte that the James "will climb and ordinary hill with two or four passengers." The Model A was a highwheeler and cost between $700 and $800. Production was minimal, and in 1911 the company quit production of the car for a larger car called the Dearborn. It lasted one year.

AlDub (also known as MaiDen) is a supercouple (or "love team" as it is known in the Philippines) that appears in the Kalyeserye portion of the "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment of the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga!. They are also called "phenomenal love team". Its name is derived from a portmanteau of the tandem's character names, namely Filipino actor Alden Richards, who portrays a fictionalized version of himself, and Yaya Dub (Divina Ursula Bokbokova Smash, a playful reverse-acronym of Dubsmash), portrayed by Dubsmash personality and actress Maine Mendoza. Both joining the program's cast in 2015, Richards first appeared as a host of Eat Bulaga!'s various segments, such as the "That's My Bae" portion; while Mendoza originally appeared as Yaya Dub (sometimes, as Lola Isadora) in the show's "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment. Exclusively interacting through the show's split screen frame, the AlDub couple's main communication is through dubbing audio samples of popular songs, films and TV series as well as handwritten messages shown on screen and being broadcast by GMA Network, and worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV.

Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band formed in Leyton, east London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. The band's discography has grown to thirty-eight albums, including sixteen studio albums, eleven live albums, four EPs, and seven compilations.

Pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Iron Maiden achieved initial success during the early 1980s. After several line-up changes, the band went on to release a series of UK and US platinum and gold albums, including 1982's The Number of the Beast, 1983's Piece of Mind, 1984's Powerslave, 1985's live release Live After Death, 1986's Somewhere in Time and 1988's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Over (cricket)

In the sport of cricket, an over is a set of six balls bowled from one end of a cricket pitch.

In a normal over, a single bowler delivers six balls in succession, from one end of the pitch, to the batsman at the other end. After six deliveries, the umpire calls 'over'; the fielding team switches ends, and a different bowler is selected to bowl an over from the opposite end of the pitch, while the batsmen do not change ends. The captain of the fielding team decides which bowler will bowl any given over, and no bowler may bowl two overs in succession.

Overview

An over must consist of six legal deliveries. If the bowler bowls a wide or a no ball, that illegal delivery is not counted towards the six-ball tally, and another delivery will need to be bowled in its place.

In the event that a bowler is injured, or is sent out of the attack by the umpire (for disciplinary reasons, such as bowling beamers), during the middle of an over, a team-mate completes any remaining deliveries.

Because a bowler may not bowl consecutive overs, the general tactic is for the captain to appoint two bowlers to alternate overs from opposite ends. When one bowler tires or becomes ineffective, the captain will replace that bowler with another. The period of time during which a bowler bowls every alternate over is known as a spell.
