James Hudson may refer to:

List of Home and Away characters (1993)

Home and Away is an Australian soap opera first broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. The following is a list of characters that first appeared in 1993, by order of first appearance. They were all introduced by the show's then executive producer Andrew Howie, who had succeeded Des Monaghan. The 6th season of Home and Away began airing on 11 January 1993. In January, John Adam and Laura Vazquez began appearing as Luke Cunningham and Sarah Thompson, respectively. Melissa George arrived in March playing Angel Brooks, while Imogen Miller was introduced in April. David Dixon began playing Nathan Roberts in October. Simon Baker took on the role of James Hudson in November.

Luke Cunningham

Luke Cunningham, played by John Adam debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 12 January 1993 and departed on 27 July 1994. Adam previously guest starred in the serial in 1990 as soldier Dave Porter. In 1994, Adam was axed along with the characters of Sarah Thompson (Laura Vasquez), Tug O'Neale (Tristan Bancks) and Roxanne Miller (Lisa Lackey). The Serial's Producers did not inform them about their departures and they read about it in an issue of TV Week.

James Thompson (martyr)

Blessed James Thompson, also known as James Hudson, was a Catholic priest and martyr of York, hanged during the reign of Elizabeth I.

Life

Thompson arrived at the college at Reims 19 September 1580, and in May of the next year, by virtue of a dispensation, was admitted at Soissons, with one Nicholas Fox, to all Sacred orders within twelve days, although at the time he was so ill that he could hardly stand.

He was sent on his mission that August, and was arrested in York a year later, on August 11, 1582. When he was taken before the Council of the North, he openly confessed to his being a priest. This astonished all of his friends, because they knew he had been gone for less than an entire year. He was shackled and imprisoned—first in a private jail, until his money ran out, and then in York Castle.

He was condemned on November 25, 1582, and was hanged at the Knavesmire three days later. He protested the entire time that he had never plotted against the queen, and that he died in and for Catholic faith. While he was hanging, he raised his hands to heaven, then beat his chest with his right hand, before he finally made the sign of cross and died. In spite of his sentence, he was neither disemboweled nor quartered, but was buried under the gallows.
