James Hahn

James Kenneth "Jim" Hahn (born July 3, 1950) is an American lawyer, politician and member of the Democratic Party. Hahn was elected the 40th Mayor of Los Angeles in 2001. He served until 2005, at which time he was defeated in his bid for re-election. Prior to his term as mayor, Hahn served in several other capacities for the city of Los Angeles, including Deputy City Attorney (1975–1979), City Controller (1981–1985) and City Attorney (1985–2001). Hahn is the only individual in the city's history to have been elected to all three citywide offices. He is currently a sitting judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

As Mayor, Hahn appointed Bill Bratton, the former NYPD Commissioner, as Police Chief of Los Angeles and chose not to renew Bernard Parks's second term as Chief. Bratton's appointment is widely seen as leading to the sharp declines in Los Angeles' crime rate and improved morale in the department. Hahn also led the successful campaign to defeat secession in the San Fernando Valley, Hollywood, and San Pedro, thereby keeping Los Angeles intact. While he is noted primarily for these two accomplishments, they also helped lead to his unsuccessful re-election bid; African Americans upset at Parks' ousting and San Fernando Valley residents disappointed with the secession verdict had been the two constituencies that had propelled him to victory in 2001.

James Hahn (golfer)

James Hahn (born November 2, 1981) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour.

Hahn was born in Seoul, South Korea. He played his college golf at the University of California, Berkeley and turned professional after graduating in 2003. He played on the Canadian Tour, Korean Tour and Gateway Tour before he joined the Nationwide Tour in 2010. He finished 29th on the Tour's money list in his rookie season after recording five top-10 finishes. On June 4, 2012, he picked up his first win on Tour in 2012 at the Rex Hospital Open after defeating Scott Parel in a playoff – going for the green in two on the decisive par 5 because he had a flight to catch. He then proceeded to board a plane to California to play in sectional qualifying for the U.S. Open the following day. Hahn won the event and played in his first major at the 2012 U.S. Open.

In February 2015, Hahn won for the first time on the PGA Tour at the Northern Trust Open played at Riviera Country Club. He beat Paul Casey and Dustin Johnson in a sudden-death playoff after all three players finished in a tie at six-under-par after regulation play. After Casey had been eliminated on the second extra hole, Hahn holed a 25 foot birdie putt on the third extra hole to edge out Johnson for the victory. The win moved Hahn into the top 100 in the world for the first time and earned him entry into the 2015 Masters Tournament.

Hahn Island

Hahn Island (78°15′S 164°58′E / 78.250°S 164.967°E / -78.250; 164.967Coordinates: 78°15′S 164°58′E / 78.250°S 164.967°E / -78.250; 164.967) is an island 1 nautical mile (2 km) long, lying 7 nautical miles (13 km) north of Mount Discovery, on the east side of Koettlitz Glacier, in Antarctica. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from ground surveys and Navy air photos, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 1963 for Commander James Hahn, U.S. Navy, a public information officer on the staff of the Commander, U.S. Naval Support Force, Antarctica, for several years preceding 1963.
