Jai ho

"Jai ho" (Hindi: जय हो), also transliterated "Jay ho", is a Nepali and Hindi phrase which can be roughly translated as "Let [the] victory prevail", "Let there be victory", or "May there always be victory". Particularly, in Nepali, it means "Let victory be yours". When used as a title, the phrase may refer to:

Jai Ho (film)

Jai Ho is a 2014 Indian action drama film directed by Sohail Khan and produced by Khan along with Sunil Lulla. The film stars Salman Khan, Tabu and Sunil Shetty alongside Danny Denzongpa as the antagonist. It features cameo appearances by Sunil Shetty and Genelia D'Souza. The film is an official remake of the 2006 Telugu film Stalin directed by A. R. Murugadoss, whose story was inspired by the American film Pay It Forward.

Jai Ho was released on 24 January 2014 on 3900 screens in India and on around 650 screens overseas, to mixed critical reception.

Jai Ho's worldwide distribution rights were sold for ₹110 crore (US$16 million) and its satellite rights were sold for ₹50 crore (US$7.4 million). Its music rights were sold for ₹12 crore (US$1.8 million).

Plot

Jai Agnihotri (Salman Khan), an ex-army officer, is passionate about helping people and overcomes criminals single-handedly. He was a major in the Indian Army, but was suspended because of a disciplinary action after he ignored the orders of the high command and went ahead to rescue a bunch of children from terrorists. He now lives with his mother (Nadira Babbar) as well as his sister Geeta (Tabu), both of who are not on speaking terms with each other since Geeta married a Muslim man against her mother's wish.

Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)

"Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" is a song performed by American girl group The Pussycat Dolls for their second studio album Doll Domination (2008). It was released on February 23, 2009, by Interscope Records as the fourth single from the record. After watching Slumdog Millionaire record executives Jimmy Iovine and Ron Fair wanted to turn "Jai Ho" into a "pop record without deviating from the original melody" and asked Scherzinger to do her own interpretation of the song. The song was credited as "A.R. Rahman and The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger" which caused the eventual split of the group.

Upon its release, the song received generally positive reviews from music critics, applauding it as a great adaption. "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" was commercially successful. On the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, the song debuted at number 100. The following week it peaked at number 15, experiencing one of the largest upward movements on the chart. Internationally, the song charted strongly, topping the charts in countries including in Australia, Finland, Israel and Ireland, as well as peaking within the top ten of the charts in countries such as New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Skyla

Skyla (born Lucy Batty; 5 March 1991) is an English dance singer from Altrincham.

Career

Skyla was signed by 3 Beat/AATW in 2008. She has been working alongside producers Scott Rosser (from Cahill), Mike Di Scala (Ultrabeat) and Nemesis.

Her appearance on the music scene was a song by the Beatplayers on a titled track "Summer Love", and she featured on the track as well as in the music video. The song peaked 31 on the UK Dance Chart. The following year she released her debut single, "Breaking Free" (a cover of High School Musical) was released June 9, 2009. Later on in 2009 she released her second single, a cover of 50 Cent's "Ayo Technology", was released on October 14, 2009. It received heavy airplay on many channels such as Clubland TV, MTV Dance and Chart Show TV, and was very popular in clubs and bars all across Europe, it peaked 34 on the UK Dance Chart

On September 3, 2010, Skyla premiered a new song on YouTube called "Lady Killer" featuring grime artist Bashy. It only managed to peak 25 on the UK Independent Chart.
