Jagdeep Singh (basketball)

Jagdeep Singh (born January 10, 1986) is an Indian professional basketball player. He plays for the Young Cagers who compete at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup and is a member of the India national basketball team.

Career

Singh competed for the India national basketball team at both the FIBA Asia Championship 2007 and FIBA Asia Championship 2009. He averaged 11.4 points per game at the 2007 tournament for the 15th placed Indians. In 2009, he averaged a team-leading 7.8 rebounds per game as the Indian team improved to a 13th place finish. In both of India's victories, he was the game-leading rebounder, grabbing 10 against Indonesia and 15 against Uzbekistan.

Personal life

Jagdeep Singh was born on 31 May 1971 in Ambala Cantonment, Haryana. His father's name is Jagdish Singh. He has passed 12th standard from National Open School, Delhi in 1993 and is a licentiate. He owns an insurance business. Jagdeep Singh is married to Raminder Kaur, who is self-employed. They have a daughter Kirat Kaur and a son named Swaraj Singh. He is a Sikh by religion. His hobby is listening to music. He has three criminal cases filed against him.

Politics

Jagdeep Singh won the Hari Nagar Assembly constituency in Delhi Legislative Assembly election, 2013 by polling 38,912 votes. He defeated the joint of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Shyam Sharma of the SAD by a margin of 8,876 votes. He also defeated the four-time sitting MLA from the BJP, Harsharan Singh Balli, who joined the Indian National Congress (INC) after being refused a ticket by the BJP. The middle-class and Sikh dominated Hari Nagar has low cost DDA houses as well as wealthy kothis.

Jagdeep Singh Deo

Jagdeep Singh Deo (born 3 May 1971) is a Malaysian born lawyer and Democratic Action Party (Malaysia) assemblyman for Dato Keramat, Penang. His father is Karpal Singh and his brothers are Gobind Singh Deo and Ramkarpal Singh.

Legal career

He heads his late father's law firm, Karpal Singh & Co in Penang.

Political career

In the 2013 general election, he was elected as the state assemblyman for N29 Dato Keramat, Penang. He is the state executive councillor board chairman for Housing and Town & Country Planning Committee.

Jagdeep (Urdu: جگدیپ‎ is the screen name of Syed Jawaher Ali Jaffry; born 29 March 1939 in datia, India) is an Indian film actor who has appeared in more than 300 films. He is especially known for his comic roles. He played Soorma Bhopali in Sholay (1975), Machchar in Purana Mandir (1984), Salman Khan's dad in Andaz Apna Apna (1994) and directed a movie Soorma Bhopali with this character as the protagonist.

Career

Jagdeep started his film career as a child artist extra in films like B. R. Chopra's Afsana, then became a child artist in Ab Dilli Door Nahin, K A Abbas's Munna and AVM's Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke. Then came Bimal Roy's Do Bigha Zamin with which he started playing comic roles. Some hit songs are picturised on him like 'paas baitho tabiyat bahal jayegi' from 'Punarmilan', 'In pyar ki rahon mein' from the same film, 'chal ud ja re panchhi' from superhit movie 'Bhabhi' where he is paired opposite Nanda, 'Aa Gaye Yaaro Jeene Ke' from 'Phir wohi Raat'.

He is also known for his appearances in many horror Movies, especially in projects of "Ramsay Brothers". He appeared in famous hits like Purana Mandir.
