Jackyl is an American hard rock band formed in 1991. Their sound has been described as hard rock, heavy metal and Southern metal. Their eponymous album has sold more than a million copies in the United States with released hit singles like "Down on Me" and "When Will it Rain". The band is best known for its song "The Lumberjack", which features a chainsaw solo by lead singer Jesse James Dupree.
In 1992, Jackyl's self-titled debut album was released under Geffen Records and eventually went platinum. It features a song entitled "She Loves My Cock", which was omitted from edited versions, as were suggestive elements on the album's cover art. When a Kmart in Georgia refused to sell Jackyl, the band played an impromptu concert in front of the store. Footage of the event was used for the music video of their single "I Stand Alone".
Their second album released in 1994 is titled Push Comes to Shove. Also that year, the band appeared at Woodstock '94 in Saugerties, New York. The album contains the singles "Push Comes to Shove" and "Headed for Destruction".
Jackyl is the eponymous debut album by the band Jackyl. It was released in November 1992 on Geffen.
The record's clean issuance omits "She Loves My Cock." Likewise, on the cover art of edited versions, the "Parental Advisory" logo in the background is altered to say "Meaty bones beware of Jackyl."
All songs written by Jesse Dupree except as noted.
I'm reachin' out for you
You know what I'm gonna do
Use the power that's in my hands
To make my wishes your ever command
(Chorus)
I put a curse on you, on you
I put a curse on you
I was born of bad blood
A rare mixed breed
With the eye of the devil
And the demon seed
(Chorus)
And when the night falls you feel it creepin' up on ya
That's when those creepy things go bump in the night
And it's reachin' up around your back
And it's pullin' you down
(Chorus)
