Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (also referred to as JBIMS or JB or just Bajaj) is the Department of Management Studies of the University of Mumbai (Bombay), named after noted industrialist and philanthropist, Jamnalal Bajaj. It is known for its post-graduate management programme. It is one of the best business schools in India.
History
JBIMS was established in 1965 by the University of Mumbai in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. JBIMS is considered to be unique in management education as it is firmly rooted in the local soil and capable of articulating the Indian ethos. In the contemporary era, when globalization and liberalization are the buzz words, the institute has (without disturbing the said roots) ordered itself to meet the emerging challenges, sentiments and opportunities that are coming with the new economic order.
Reputation and objectives
The major objective behind the JBIMS is to evolve an indigenous model of management education in tune with the contemporary demands of the Indian and the global environments. JBIMS has been rated among the top 25 business schools in the Asia-Pacific region and has been consistently ranked among the top 10 business schools in India.
