J. T. Thomas may refer to:

J. T. Thomas (linebacker)

J.T. Thomas III (born August 15, 1988) is an American football linebacker for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football at West Virginia.

Professional career

Chicago Bears

On July 27, 2011 the Bears signed Thomas to a 4-year contract. Thomas was eventually placed on injured reserve due to a hip problem. In the 2012 season opener against the Indianapolis Colts, Thomas forced LaVon Brazill to fumble, and Kelvin Hayden recovered the loose ball.

On August 31, 2013, Thomas was among the final cuts by the Bears.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Thomas was claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 1, 2013.

New York Giants

On March 10, 2015, Thomas signed a three-year, $12 million contract with the New York Giants. On December 31, 2015, Thomas was placed on injured reserve.

Personal life

Thomas has a brother named Jared who has autism. Thomas is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and was initiated through the Nu Zeta chapter at WVU. Thomas attended Blanche Ely High School, where he was teammates with Patrick Peterson.

Johnny Le'Mon Thomas (born December 15, 1971) is a former American football wide receiver who played four seasons with the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League. He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the 1995 NFL Draft. He first attended San Bernardino Valley College before transferring to Arizona State University and attended San Bernardino High School in San Bernardino, California.

Jāti (in Devanagari: जाति, Telugu:జాతి, Kannada:ಜಾತಿ, Malayalam: ജാതി, Tamil:ஜாதி, literally "birth") is a group of clans, tribes, communities and sub-communities, and religions in India. Each jāti typically has an association with a traditional job function or tribe. Religious beliefs (e.g. Sri Vaishnavism or Veera Shaivism) or linguistic groupings may define some jatis.

A person's surname typically reflects a community (jati) association: thus Gandhi = perfume seller, Dhobi = washerman, Srivastava = military scribe, etc. In any given location in India 500 or more jatis may co-exist, although the exact composition will differ from district to district.

Professor Madhav Gadgil (1983) has described Jatis as self-governing, closed communities, based on his research in rural Maharashtra:

In such a village society, each caste, traditionally self regulated by a caste council, used to lead a relatively autonomous existence. Each caste used to pursue a hereditarily prescribed occupation; this was particularly true of the artisan and service castes and the pastoral and nomadic castes. The several castes were linked to each other through a traditionally determined barter of services and produce (Ghurye 1961, Karve 1961).
