J. S. G. Boggs

James Stephen George Boggs (born 1955) is an American artist, best known for his hand-drawn, one-sided depictions of U.S. banknotes (known as "Boggs notes") and his various "Boggs bills" he draws for use in his performances. He spends his "Boggs notes" only for their face value. If he draws a $100 bill, he exchanges it for $100 worth of goods. He then sells any change he gets, the receipt, and sometimes the goods he purchased as his "artwork". If an art collector wants a Boggs note, he must track it down himself. Boggs will tell a collector where he spent the note, but he does not sell them directly. His works are held in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, the MOMA in New York, the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts, the Norton Museum of Art, West Palm Beach, Florida, the Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, Florida, the Spencer Museum of Art, Lawrence, Kansas, and the British Museum, London, England, to name but a few. Boggs and his work are chronicled in Boggs: A Comedy of Values, by Lawrence Weschler, published by the University of Chicago Press.

Jōsō

Jōsō (常総市, Jōsō-shi) is a city located in Ibaraki Prefecture, in the northern Kantō region of Japan. As of September 2015, the city had an estimated population of 62,686 and a population density of 507 persons per km². Its total area was 123.64 square kilometres (47.74 sq mi). The city has a large expatriate population from Brazil, and many of the city signs are in both Japanese and Portuguese.

Jōsō is located in southwestern Ibaraki Prefecture, approximately 50 kilometers north of central Tokyo. Most of the city is flat, with an average elevation of 10-20 meters above sea level. The Kinugawa River flows through the city.

History

The town of Mitsukaidō was established within Toyoda District with the creation of the municipalities system on April 1, 1889. The area was transferred to Yūki District in 1894. On July 10, 1954 Mitsukaidō merged with the villages of Sugawara, Ohanawa, Mitsuma, Goka, Ono and Sakate, and was elevated to city status. It further annexed the villages of Sugao and Uchimoriya on April 1, 1956.

Jūsō

Jūsō (十三, lit. "Thirteen") is an area in Yodogawa-ku in north central Osaka, Japan.

The core of the area is Jūsō Station, the hub station of the Hankyu Railway system. The area typifies the unique culture of Osaka. Situated across the Yodo River from central Osaka, Jūsō is centrally located for easy access by Hankyu Railway lines to other major Kansai cities: 24 minutes to Kobe (Sannomiya Station) to the west and 40 minutes to Kyoto (Kawaramachi Station) to the northeast.

Predominantly known as the pink area of Osaka, Jūsō has a robust red light district area in the Hommachi West area.

Jūsō is also famous for its wide variety of high quality classic Osaka cuisine featuring okonomiyaki, negiyaki, and takoyaki shops.

In August every year, a massive fireworks celebration takes place beside the Yodo River; the people who attend this celebration often wear traditional yukatas and wooden sandals.

History

The name Jūsō is written with the kanji for "thirteen." One theory as the origin of the name states that it was originally the thirteenth stop on the Yodo River going from Kyoto to Osaka Bay. A less popular theory holds that the name originated in numbering under the old jorisei (条里制) land allocation system.

Watt

The watt (symbol: W) is a derived unit of power in the International System of Units (SI), named after the Scottish engineer James Watt (1736–1819). The unit is defined as joule per second and can be used to express the rate of energy conversion or transfer with respect to time. It has dimensions of L²MT⁻³.

When an object's velocity is held constant at one meter per second against constant opposing force of one newton the rate at which work is done is 1 watt.

In terms of electromagnetism, one watt is the rate at which work is done when one ampere (A) of current flows through an electrical potential difference of one volt (V).

Recea, Brașov

Recea (German: Waywodretschen; Hungarian: Vajdarécse) is a commune in Braşov County, Romania. It is composed of seven villages: Berivoi (Berivoj), Dejani (Dezsán), Gura Văii (Netot), Iaşi (Jás), Recea, Săsciori (Szeszcsor) and Săvăstreni (Szevesztrény).

J&S Hunter Coupe

The J&S Hunter Coupe was a fibreglass kit car made in the 1960s by J&S Fibreglass, a small company that specialised in making various removable hard tops and other kit cars including the J&S Beach Buggy, their most successful model. The company was located in Five Dock, New South Wales. It ceased to trade some years ago.

Approximately 20 body shells and chassis units were made. The last was recorded in 1968.

Various motors and components were fitted to the cars. The most common version was fitted with Holden "grey" motors and chassis components. Other known variants include two cars fitted with Jaguar 3.4 litre engines coupled with some Studebaker suspension components, another was fitted with a Ford Zephyr V6 engine.

Several cars were raced. The most famous was built by Ian & Jill Hindmarsh of Kiama, New South Wales. Hindmarsh was a skilled motor mechanic and the car that he built up was presented exceptionally well. As a result, the car featured in all of the J&S promotional materials and brochures. The Hindmarsh Hunter was raced in various club events and was quite successful from 1962 to 1966. In Easter 1965 the car was raced at Mount Panorama Circuit New South Wales recording a maximum speed of 125 mph on Conrod Straight. In mid 1965 the Hindmarsh Hunter was fitted with a new Holden 179 engine and raced at Warwick Farm race circuit.
