J. Howard Miller

J. Howard Miller (1918–2004) was an American graphic artist. He painted posters during World War II in support of the war effort, among them the famous "We Can Do It!" poster, frequently misidentified as Rosie the Riveter.

Miller studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1939. He lived in Pittsburgh during the war. His work came to the attention of the Westinghouse Company (later, the Westinghouse War Production Co-Ordinating Committee), and he was hired to create a series of posters. The posters were sponsored by the company's internal War Production Co-Ordinating Committee, one of the hundreds of labor-management committees organized under the supervision of the national War Production Board.

Miller may have based the "We Can Do It!" poster on a United Press International (UPI) picture taken of Geraldine Doyle working at a factory. At the time of the poster's release the name "Rosie" was not associated with the picture; that came after 1982 when the poster was rediscovered in the US National Archives.

John Howard

John Winston Howard, OM, AC (born 26 July 1939), was the 25th Prime Minister of Australia, serving from 11 March 1996 to 3 December 2007. Only Sir Robert Menzies has served in the position longer.

Born in Sydney, Howard worked as a solicitor before entering politics, having studied law at the University of Sydney. A member of the Liberal Party and former president of the Young Liberals, he first stood for office at the 1968 New South Wales state election, but lost narrowly. At the 1974 federal election, Howard was elected to the Division of Bennelong, which he would go on to represent until 2007. He was promoted to cabinet in 1977, and later in the year replaced Phillip Lynch as Treasurer of Australia, remaining in that position until the defeat of Malcolm Fraser's government in 1983.

In 1985, Howard was elected leader of the Liberal Party for the first time, thus replacing Andrew Peacock as Leader of the Opposition. He led the Liberal–National coalition to the 1987 federal election, but lost to Bob Hawke's Labor government, and was removed from the leadership in 1989. Remaining a key figure in the party, Howard was re-elected leader in 1995 (replacing Alexander Downer), and subsequently led the Coalition to victory at the 1996 federal election.

Howard V. Miller (1894–1948) was a minister and general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene. Howard V. Miller was born in Brooktondale, New York, and joined the Church of the Nazarene in 1922. He served as pastor, district superintendent, and college professor until his election to the general superintendency in 1940. Miller was married to Rhea Miller, who wrote the words of the popular hymn "I'd Rather Have Jesus", which was subsequently set to music by George Beverly Shea.
