J. H. Prynne

Jeremy Halvard Prynne (born June 24, 1936) is a British poet closely associated with the British Poetry Revival.

Prynne's early influences include Charles Olson and Donald Davie. His first book, Force of Circumstance and Other Poems was published in 1962; Prynne has excluded it from his canon. His Poems (1982) collected all the work he wanted to keep in print up to the time of publication, beginning with Kitchen Poems (1968). An expanded and updated version appeared in 1999, with another, further updated, published in 2005, and another in 2015. Prynne was one of the key figures in the Cambridge group of Revival poets and was a major contributor to The English Intelligencer.

In addition to his poetry, Prynne has published some critical and academic prose. A transcription of a 1971 lecture on Olson's Maximus Poems at Simon Fraser University has had wide circulation. His longer works include a monograph on Saussure, Stars, Tigers and the Shape of Words and self-published book-length commentaries on poems by Wordsworth (Field Notes: 'The Solitary Reaper' and others) and Shakespeare (They That Haue Powre to Hurt; A Specimen of a Commentary on Shake-speares Sonnets, 94). His essay on New Songs from a Jade Terrace, an anthology of early Chinese love poetry, was included in the second edition of the book from Penguin 1982. He has written poetry in classical Chinese under the name Pu Ling-en.

Jōhō

Jōhō (承保) was a Japanese era name (年号, nengō, lit. year name) after Enkyū and before Jōryaku. This period spanned the years from August 1074 through November 1077. The reigning emperor was Emperor Shirakawa-tennō (白河天皇).

Change of Era

January 30, 1074 Jōhō gannen (承保元年): The new era name was created to mark an event or series of events. The previous era ended and the new one commenced in Enkyū 6, on the 23rd day of the 8th month of 1074.

Events of the Jōhō Era

1074 (Jōhō 1, 1st month): Dianagon Minamoto- no Takakune asked to be relieved of his duties because of his age. He was 71, and he wanted to retire to Uji. In his retirement, he was visited by many friends with whom he pursued research into the history of Japan. He brought this work together in a book.

March 7, 1074 (Jōhō 1, 7th day of the 2nd month): The former kampaku Fujiwara Yorimichi died at the age of 83. In this same period, his sister, the widow of Emperor Ichijo, died at the age of 87.

October 25, 1074 (Jōhō 1, 3rd day of the 10th month): Empress Jōtō-mon In died at the age of 87.

Gendarmerie Special Public Security Command

The Gendarmerie Special Public Security Command (Turkish: Jandarma Özel Asayiş Komutanlığı) or shortly as JÖAK, is the domestic special forces unit of the Gendarmerie General Command. It has several missions which include counter-terrorist actions, underwater operations, hostage rescue, riot control, and other high-threat criminal actions. Members of the unit receive extensive training at the Jandarma School at Foça and also from selected Army instructors. All teams companies work under the direction of the police and gendarmerie regions to which they are assigned, but can also receive tasking from the Jandarma Headquarters in Ankara.
