J. H. Brodie

J.H. Brodie is a fictional character in the television series Homicide: Life on the Street. He appeared in a recurring role in the show's fourth season and was a regular in the show's fifth season, after becoming an official crime scene recorder.

Professional life

Brodie first appeared as a trainee cameraman for a local news station, often intruding on crime scenes or getting in the way of investigating police in order to get the most dramatic shots possible. However, his career was cut short when he discovered that he had recorded evidence from a crime scene and chose to hand the tape over to Lt. Al Giardello and Captain Megan Russert to help solve a time-critical crime rather than wait for it to be shown on the evening news.

Recognizing that he had sacrificed his job in the pursuit of justice, Gee and Megan offered him a role as a crime scene recorder, a job that he took up with some gusto - although he continued to film for his own entertainment, eventually constructing a documentary about the homicide squad that was revealed in the episode "The Documentary".

Gendarmerie Special Public Security Command

The Gendarmerie Special Public Security Command (Turkish: Jandarma Özel Asayiş Komutanlığı) or shortly as JÖAK, is the domestic special forces unit of the Gendarmerie General Command. It has several missions which include counter-terrorist actions, underwater operations, hostage rescue, riot control, and other high-threat criminal actions. Members of the unit receive extensive training at the Jandarma School at Foça and also from selected Army instructors. All teams companies work under the direction of the police and gendarmerie regions to which they are assigned, but can also receive tasking from the Jandarma Headquarters in Ankara.

H. Keith H. Brodie (born August 24, 1939, New Canaan, Connecticut) is an American psychiatrist, educator, and President Emeritus of Duke University.

Academic career

Brodie attended the New Canaan Country School before studying chemistry at Princeton University and medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Brodie graduated from Columbia University with an M.D. in 1965.

He completed an internship in internal medicine at the Ochner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans and a residency in psychiatry at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.

In 1968, he joined the National Institute of Mental Health as a clinical associate.

Brodie taught at Stanford University from 1970 to 1974 and was chair of Stanford's Medical School Faculty Senate and director of the General Research Center.

Brodie received the A.E. Bennett Research Award from the Society of Biological Psychiatry, the psychopharmacology prize of the American Psychological Association, and the Edward A. Streck Award of the Pennsylvania Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania Health System. He served as president of the American Psychiatric Association and chaired the Board of Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine of the Institute of Medicine.
