J. C. Daniel

J. C. Daniel is an Indian filmmaker who is considered the father of Malayalam cinema. He was the first film-maker from Kerala. He produced, directed, wrote, photographed, edited and acted in the first film made in Kerala, Vigathakumaran (The Lost Child). He also established the first film studio in Kerala, The Travancore National Pictures. The Government of Kerala instituted the Kerala State Film Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1992 in his name, as a part of the Kerala State Film Awards, to honor lifetime achievements in Malayalam Cinema.

Early life

Daniel was born on 28 November 1900 in a Tamil Christian Nadar family in Agasteeswaram taluk ( Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu). He finished his formal education from Maharaja's College, Trivandrum. He was interested in martial arts and was an expert in Kalarippayattu, the traditional martial art of Kerala. He published an English book titled Indian Art of Fencing and Sword Play in 1915, when he was 15 years old.

Jivanayakam Cyril Daniel (born Nagercoil, 9 July 1927 – 23 August 2011), or J.C., as he was known, was an Indian naturalist, and the author of several acclaimed books on birds, mammals and reptiles.

Life and work

Influenced early in his life by Sálim Ali, he had a long association with the Bombay Natural History Society, where he served as a curator from 1950, and was then its first Director. After retirement in 1991, he was elected an Honorary Member and was also its Honorary Secretary.

His books include The Book of Indian Reptiles and A Century of Natural History and Conservation in Developing Countries. He co-authored Indian Wildlife - Insight Guides Lion Section. He revised Ali's Book of Indian Birds for its 12th edition, published in 1996.

He was also executive editor of the Society's journal and the initiator of the Hornbill magazine.

He was diagnosed with cancer and died on 23 August 2011.

In Genetic genealogy and human genetics, Y DNA haplogroup J-M267, also commonly known as Haplogroup J1 is a subclade (branch) of Y-DNA haplogroup J-P209, (commonly known as Haplogroup J) along with its sibling clade Y DNA haplogroup J-M172 (commonly known as Haplogroup J2). (All these haplogroups have had other historical names listed below.)

Java EE Connector Architecture

Java EE Connector Architecture (JCA) is a Java-based technology solution for connecting application servers and enterprise information systems (EIS) as part of enterprise application integration (EAI) solutions. While JDBC is specifically used to connect Java EE applications to databases, JCA is a more generic architecture for connection to legacy systems. JCA was developed under the Java Community Process as JSR 16 (JCA 1.0), JSR 112 (JCA 1.5) and JSR 322 (JCA 1.6).

J2EE Version 1.3 requires application servers to support JCA Version 1.0. J2EE Version 1.4 requires application servers to support JCA Version 1.5. Java EE Version 6 requires application servers to support JCA version 1.6.

Daniel
