Oceanic may mean:
Oceanic were a four-member 1990s house/techno group from Wirral, England, most famous for the dance hit song, "Insanity", which was released in 1991. This was the group's biggest commercial success, reaching number 3 in the UK Singles Chart for three weeks. The track also made the Australian Top 40.
Later that year they released the follow-up, "Wicked Love", which reached number 25 in the UK singles chart. In 1992 the act released their first and only album, entitled That Compact Disc By Oceanic, (also, That Cassette/LP By Oceanic for the audio cassette/LP versions respectively) which featured two different versions of "Insanity", and reached a chart position of number 49 before dropping out of the UK Albums Chart after only 2 weeks. A third single, "Controlling Me", made number 14 in the UK chart. Their final song to appear on the charts was "Ignorance" (with Siobhan Maher), which was on the UK chart at number 72 for one week in November 1992.
The group performed on several TV shows between 1991–1993, including four appearances on Top of the Pops, plus The Hitman and Her and an episode of Frank Sidebottom's Fantastic Shed Show.
Isis (stylized as ISIS) was a Los Angeles-based post-metal band, founded in Boston, Massachusetts, with a career spanning from 1997 to 2010. They borrowed from and helped to evolve a sound pioneered by the likes of Neurosis and Godflesh, creating heavy music consisting of lengthy songs that focus on repetition and evolution of structure.
The band's last album, Wavering Radiant, was released on 5 May 2009. They disbanded in June 2010, just before the release of a split EP with the Melvins.
"Isis" is a ballad written by Bob Dylan in collaboration with Jacques Levy, in July 1975. The song is the second track on the Bob Dylan album Desire.
This song is in a moderately fast 3/4 time, in the key of B-flat major. The arrangement is based on rhythm chords played on acoustic piano, accompanied by bass guitar, drums, and violin. The harmonic progression consists of an ostinato using the following chords throughout:
Ⅰ–ⅤⅠⅠ♭–Ⅳ–Ⅰ
B♭–A♭–E♭–B♭
The lyrics are all verses; there is no chorus. The melody is in the style of a modal folk song, emphasizing the tonic and dominant notes in the scale, with leaps of a fifth in between them. The mode is Mixolydian with a major third in the harmony, but Dylan's delivery of the melody and Rivera's violin accompaniment use a flatted third as in the blues.
In this secret way
He knew you first
And from those lips, a seed
Your mouth dropped open
Darkness fell out
Kept close in skin
Kept close in blood
And in he was
And from those lips, a seed
This is the gift he recieved
Twisted roots kept warm
Rape she was and ready for the death
