List of W.I.T.C.H. characters

The following is a list of characters in the W.I.T.C.H. comic series, as well as the eponymous animated television series that first aired in December 2004. The series revolves around five teenage girls who possess magical powers and are revealed to be the Guardians of Kandrakar.

Main characters

The main character all serve as Guardians of Kandrakar.

Wilhemnia Vandom (Voiced by Kelly Stables in English version, Karine Pinoteau in French version and Donatella Fanfani in Italian version.) — Leader of W.I.T.C.H. and the keeper of the Heart of Kandrakar. She moves to Heatherfield after leaving her hometown of Fadden Hills. Her powers include bringing electrical appliances to life, granting them distinct personalities and the ability to speak, along with talking to and understanding animals. In issue 80 (Emotions) Will's half-brother William was born. Later on, William found that he is magical like Will.

Iremae Lair (Voiced by Candi Milo in English version, Célia Charpentier in French version and Francesca Bielli in Italian version.) — Iremae is the "class clown". Her best friend is Hay Lin, who shares her sense of humor. Her powers include intuition, manipulating water and seeing visions in water. She can materialize objects from thin air. Irma learned that Anna is her stepmother in issue 66.

Lair (video game)

Lair is a 2007 fantasy action flight video game developed by Factor 5 and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Gameplay

The player assumes the role of a dragon-riding knight named Rohn Partridge. Rohn is given the tasks of defending a certain area, destroying certain objects, eliminating enemies or creatures, and other mission-based objectives. After each stage, the player can earn either gold, silver, or bronze medals, depending on performance during the level. A platinum medal is also available, though unlike the other three its requirements are hidden. Earning medals assists in unlocking combos and behind-the-scenes videos.

Most of the game's battles are air-based combat, with some fought on the ground by landing the dragon and fighting troops and other land-based creatures. In some locations, the game features a morale system tied to the enemy; the lower an enemy's morale, the less he will fight, and it is possible that he will retreat from combat.

The game relies heavily on the PlayStation 3's Sixaxis motion controls. The player flies the dragon by tilting the controller, with additional moves also using motion sensing; one such example is fighting a dragon by tilting the controller to match the enemy dragon's flying height, and then slamming the controller left or right to knock the dragon sideways and out of the battle.

LAIR2

Leukocyte-associated immunoglobulin-like receptor 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LAIR2 gene.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It was identified by its similarity to LAIR1, an inhibitory receptor present on mononuclear leukocytes. This gene maps to a region of 19q13.4, termed the leukocyte receptor cluster, which contains 29 genes in the immunoglobulin superfamily, including LAIR1. The function of this protein is unknown, although it is thought to be secreted and may help modulate mucosal tolerance. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Irma (supermarket)

Irma A/S is a Danish supermarket chain, part of the Coop Danmark group. It was founded in 1886 by Carl Schepler, as a small grocery store selling eggs in Ravnsborggade in Nørrebro, Copenhagen. The chain is the second oldest groceries chain in the world, after Marks & Spencer. As of August 2006, the chain had 71 stores, mostly located in the Metropolitan Copenhagen area.

Irma also operates an express version of the store, known as Irma City. These stores are smaller than the normal Irma, with longer opening hours and a range of organic take away food.

Concept

Irma is quality-oriented mainly aiming for quality-conscious and environment-aware customers by focusing on fresh and organic products as well as packaging. Therefore, the stores have a great variety of organic products compared to other Danish supermarket, and packaging containing PVC and excessive amounts of aluminium are banned from the shelves. The same goes for chlorine-bleached products.

In 2006, Irma had discounts on many organic products, leading to a world record with over 40% of their sales being organic.
