10 Years (Armin van Buuren album)

10 Years is a compilation album produced by Dutch trance producer and DJ Armin van Buuren. It spent twelve weeks on the Dutch album chart, peaking at No. 45. It also spent five weeks on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, peaking at No. 20.

Van Buuren said that 10 Years was "not a 'best of' album", but "more a selection of previously unreleased and exclusive re-mixes". He also said that the album's main purposes were "tying up loose ends" and "a little celebration of 10 years work as a producer".

Valiant Comics

Valiant Entertainment, Inc., commonly referred to as Valiant Comics, is an American company that produces comic books and related media based on the Valiant Universe of characters - a shared superhero universe of over 2,000 characters who interact with each other. Valiant has won numerous awards and sold more than 80 million comic books worldwide.

The company was founded in 1989 by former Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter and former Marvel Comics writer/editor Bob Layton among others. In 1994, after a period of tremendous growth, Valiant's venture-capital investor, Triumph, sold the company to video game developer Acclaim Entertainment. Acclaim began adapting the characters into video games and spawned several successful gaming franchises. In 2004, after several major set backs in their core sports gaming division, Acclaim Entertainment shut down and ceased all activities including those involving Valiant.

The company was restarted in 2005 as Valiant Entertainment by entrepreneurs Dinesh Shamdasani and Jason Kothari. In 2011, after hiring several executives from Marvel Comics and Wizard Entertainment, former Marvel CEO and Vice Chairman, Peter Cuneo, was brought on board as Valiant's Chairman and an investor in the company. Valiant Entertainment officially launched its publishing division as part of an initiative dubbed the "Summer of Valiant" in 2012 to great critical and commercial success, including winning Publisher of the Year and being nominated for Book of the Year at the Diamond Gem Awards. Valiant has continued to set records and win critical acclaim, including receiving the most nominations for a single title at the 2014 Harvey Awards, being the most nominated publisher in comics at the 2015 Harvey Awards, being named 'The Best-Reviewed Publisher in American Comic Book Stores' by Bleeding Cool magazine and releasing the biggest selling independent crossover event of the decade.

Armada (Bas-Lag)

Armada is the name of the fictional floating city in China Miéville's novel The Scar. The city is part of the fictional universe Bas-Lag. It is over a thousand years old, and little is known of its origins. In The Scar, Armada is seen and described through the eyes of several recently press-ganged citizens, notably New Crobuzoner Bellis Coldwine and Remade prisoner Tanner Sack.

Description

Armada is made up of hundreds of ships, airships and other sea vessels all interconnected, existing as a movable pirate state on the oceans of Bas-Lag. The ships, the oldest having been part of Armada for more than a thousand years, are mostly built-upon, factories and residences built up on their decks (and in some cases, within their gutted hulls). The city's population is at least a hundred thousand, and is made up of humans, cactacae, khepri, ab-dead, Remade, scabmettlers and many other races. People considered criminals (or otherwise being of lower classes) in their former home states of Bas-Lag are recast as equals upon joining Armada, and often go on to hold positions of power.

IRA - Polish rock band formed in 1987 in Radom by Jakub Płucisz (guitar), Wojciech Owczarek (drums), Artur Gadowski (vocal, guitar), Dariusz Grudzień (bass) and Grzegorz Wawrzeńczuk (keyboards). They gained a wide popularity in Poland in the early nineties, mainly after releasing the "Mój Dom" album, with the hit title song, which was still during their garage and semi-professional days. They also gained some local popularity amongst the Polish-speaking citizens in the United States, where they lived and worked for few months. After signing a professional contract back in Poland, they released a few albums which didn't prove to be commercially successful (except for the "Mój Dom" follow-up, which was "IRA 1993"), and the band disbanded afterwards. Artur Gadowski started a solo career. He opened for Brian May before his show in Warsaw in September 1998. Artur's solo efforts weren't very successful either, and what success he did gain was largely based on the then legendary status of IRA. A few years later the band reunited, and exists up to now. Once again, they have not attained much popularity, but are well-known amongst hard rock fans in Poland (though they play mainly pop-oriented hard rock), and their concerts are selling rather well.

Kiss is the debut album by American rock band Kiss, released on February 18, 1974. Much of the material on the album was written by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, as members of their pre-Kiss band Wicked Lester. Simmons estimated that the entire process of recording and mixing took three weeks, while co-producer Richie Wise has stated it took just 13 days.

    Album information

The album was recorded at Bell Sound Studios in New York City, which was owned by the company that owned Buddah Records. Neil Bogart, founder of Casablanca Records, was an executive at Buddah prior to forming Casablanca. Casablanca Records held a party at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles to celebrate the West Coast release of Kiss (February 18) and to introduce the record company to the press and other record industry executives.

Kiss began their first album tour with a performance at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta on February 5, 1974. A few weeks later, they made their first national TV appearance on ABC's In Concert, followed by a performance of Firehouse on The Mike Douglas Show. During the interview portion of the show, Gene Simmons declared himself to be "evil incarnate", eliciting nervous, confused reactions from the studio audience, to which comedian Totie Fields humorously commented, "Wouldn't it be funny if he's just a nice Jewish boy underneath the makeup?" Although neither confirming or denying his Jewish heritage, Simmons replied, "You should only know", to which, Fields countered, "I do. You can't hide the hook", referring to Simmons' nose.

    Picture Perfect (In Your Eyes)

    by: 10 Years

In your eyes is the picture perfect?
In your eyes does the grass look greener?
Have you seen it though my eyes?
The world has caught on fire from what I've been told.
These city lights are killing ever slowly,
    The sanity with in me.
Maybe I lost in my creation.
This isn't how I thought I'd turn out.
In your eyes I'm picture perfect.
In your eyes the grass is greener.
Have you seen it though my eyes?
    Cause through my eyes.
    Stars are burning brighter.
    So bright we can't ignore.
We're hypnotized by televised train wrecks tragedy's a paycheck.
Maybe I, a product of my placement.
We're given no time to make up our minds.
In your eyes I'm picture perfect.
In your eyes the grass is greener.
Have you seen it though my eyes?
    Cause through my eyes.
In your eyes I'm so picture perfect.
In your eyes the grass is greener.
Have you seen it though my eyes?
    Through my eyes.
    Through my eyes.
    Through my eyes.
    Pay attention please.
He who lusts through life for excess in this world.
Dies a lonely man, careless of his soul.
Throwing caution to the wind with foolish ignorance.
    You're full of pride.
And in arrogance you can't accept the nearing end of this short lived life.
Smile and give a toast, brag and boast.
Fool the world with all of your lies.
The parasite's host never even knows.
Pull the wool over our eyes.
Walk the line and pay the price.
A pound of flesh for paradise.
Wear the wounds of your demise.
Fail to mention your intentions, fail to mention why.
The actions of your life contradict your words...
The path in which you walk is a vice of no remorse.
Washing conscience from the skin, claiming innocence.
    Ignore the signs.
From cradle to grave, you chose to trade.
A pound of flesh for paradise.
Wear the wounds of your demise.
    Pay attention please.
He who lusts through life for excess in this world.
Dies a lonely man, careless of his soul.
