Invisibility

Invisibility is the state of an object that cannot be seen. An object in this state is said to be invisible (literally, "not visible"). The term is often used in fantasy/science fiction, where objects cannot be seen by magical or technological means; however, its effects can also be demonstrated in the real world, particularly in physics and perceptual psychology classes.

Since objects can be seen by light in the visible spectrum from a source reflecting off their surfaces and hitting the viewer's eye, the most natural form of invisibility (whether real or fictional) is an object that neither reflects nor absorbs light (that is, it allows light to pass through it). This is known as transparency, and is seen in many naturally occurring materials (although no naturally occurring material is 100% transparent).

Invisibility perception depends on several optical and visual factors. For example, invisibility depends on the eyes of the observer and/or the instruments used. Thus an object can be classified as "invisible to" a person, animal, instrument, etc. In research on sensorial perception it has been shown that invisibility is perceived in cycles.

Invisible (Tilt song)

"Invisible" is a song by English electronic music group Tilt, which reached the UK top 20 charts when released in 1999. The song was co-written by Dominique Atkins, from Grace fame, who also provided the vocals.

"Invisible" is the debut single by American recording artist Skylar Grey. It was officially first released on iTunes on August 9, 2011. She performed the track along with various other songs on her upcoming studio album at The Glass House on July 31, 2011, and the song earned placement in the official trailer for the Madonna-directed film W./E..

Composition

Grey comments on her writing process for "Invisible" by saying "Before I started writing this album, I felt like I had lost control of my life and didn't know who I was anymore. I needed to ground myself so I decided to spend some time in solitude, and in the process discovered my inner super hero. The album tells that story starting with 'Invisible', which is how I used to feel."

Critical reception

Popcrush rated the song a four out of five stars and commented positively on the song's emotion and feel by saying "her song is an ode to feeling alone in a crowded room and feeling like no one can see the real you. The song addresses the notion of image, and the battle between the real you vs. the you that people see. It’s weighty subject matter encased in a pop song, with the lyrics surrounded by beats are light and airy."Billboard positively received the track and called it a "gorgeous, vulnerable opening statement that stretches her talent for crafting quick melodies over a fully formed pop track. "Invisible" sheds light on Skylar's own compelling persona."

Legend (Lynyrd Skynyrd album)

Legend was a posthumous compilation album of unreleased material by American Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, which contained previously unreleased demos from the albums before the 1977 plane crash. However, the vast majority of tracks on Legend are now available on other albums. The album was certified Gold on 7/27/2001 by the RIAA.

Legend (Henry Cow album)

The Henry Cow Legend (often referred to as Legend or Leg End ) is the debut album of British avant-rock group Henry Cow. It was recorded at Virgin Records's Manor studios over three weeks in May and June 1973, mixed in July 1973, and released in August 1973.

Content

With the exception of "Nine Funerals of the Citizen King", which the whole group sings, and background voices on "Nirvana for Mice" ("Sweet mystery of life I will remember"), "Teenbeat" and "The Tenth Chaffinch", this is an instrumental album. The jazzy Canterbury sound on some of the pieces shows Henry Cow's beginnings, although they quickly moved on to establish their own unique sound.

With the Yellow Half-Moon and Blue Star is a Fred Frith composition that was commissioned by the Cambridge Contemporary Dance Group under Liebe Klug, and was named after a painting by Paul Klee ("Avec la demi-lune jaune et l'étoile bleue"). Only an extract appears on this album, but the full 16-minute version of the suite is included in The 40th Anniversary Henry Cow Box Set (2009). Parts of "Teenbeat" began in With the Yellow Half-Moon and Blue Star and parts of it were later incorporated into "Ruins" on Unrest (1974). "Nine Funerals of the Citizen King" was Henry Cow's first overt political statement.

Legend (Witchcraft album)

Legend is the fourth album from the Swedish doom metal band Witchcraft. The album was released September 25, 2012 through Nuclear Blast Records. The album marked the debut of three new members: Simon Solomon (guitar), Tom Jondelius (guitar), and Oscar Johansson (drums). Singer Magnus Pelander opted to focus on vocals and, as a result, Legend is the first Witchcraft album on which he does not play guitar as well as sing. Bassist Ola Henriksson noted that "Magnus has been wanting to drop the guitar for a couple of years now, and just focus on the vocals. When we found two new guitar players, it was an easy decision for him to do that. Critics observed that the album departed from the band's vintage production values and opted for a more modern-sounding production.
