Roam (band)

Roam (often stylized as ROAM) is a British pop punk band from Eastbourne. The band was formed in September 2012. The band consists of vocalist Alex Costello, bass guitarist Matt Roskilly, drummer Charlie Pearson, guitarist and backing vocalist Alex Adam, and guitarist Sam Veness. The group was signed to Hopeless Records in 2014.

The band began producing original music in early 2012, and independently released two EPs, No Common Ground, which was released in 2012, and Head Down, which was released in 2013. After signing to Hopeless, the band released an EP titled Viewpoint in 2015. The band released its debut album, Backbone, on 22 January 2016, through Hopeless.

Roam (public transit)

The Town of Banff, in Banff National Park in Alberta's Rockies, Canada, launched a new rebranded local bus system called Roam in June 2008. There are three routes connecting the town, Tunnel Mountain, the Banff Springs Hotel, and the Banff Gondola. Service is provided using four hybrid Nova buses, each decorated with scenes from the National Park, featuring either a grizzly bear, elk, mountain goat or wolf.

Cash fare is $2 for adults and $1 for seniors and children under 13, with children under 5 riding for free. A $5 Day Pass provides unlimited travel for that day. Tokens can be bought in advance at a reduced rate and a Smartcard is available for one, three and six month periods.

Formerly known as Banff Public Transit, the town has had some form of public transportation since 1994, contracted to a variety of private operators. On May 31, 2008, local tour bus company Brewster Inc., took over operation of the revamped system, using the newly acquired fleet.

The Bow Valley Regional Transit Services Commission (BVRTSC) was formally established on 21 April 2011, to provide passenger transportation services in Bow Valley, which includes the municipalities of Canmore, Banff and Improvement District No. 9, and assumed responsibility for Roam public transit services. On December 3, 2012, regional transit service between Banff and Canmore began.

ROAM (Réunion des Organismes d’Assurance Mutuelle) is an association at the service of mutual insurance companies for more that 150 years.

History

Created in 1855 by a group of directors of mutual insurance companies in order to hold exchanges regarding their status as mutual organisations and to defend the provision of insurance services in the mutual form, as an alternative to joint-stock companies.

Today, this professional French association brings together 46 companies all of whom are subject to the regulations of the Insurance Code and to the supervision of the ACAM (Insurance Supervisory Authority in France).

ROAM gathers mutual insurance companies (MIC) : an MIC is insurance company that does not have its capital divided into shares, is collectively managed by it policyholders who are also its members and which acts in their best interests.

ROAM’s actions

ROAM takes a proactive role, at both the national and international level, to defend the model of mutual insurance and, more specifically, the general interests of the small and medium-sized mutual insurance companies which continue to maintain a very close link with their original mutual principles.

Intro (R&B group)

Intro is an American R&B trio from Brooklyn, New York City, New York. The trio consisted of members Jeff Sanders, Clinton "Buddy" Wike and lead singer/songwriter Kenny Greene. Intro released two albums (for Atlantic Records): 1993's Intro and their second album, 1995's New Life. The group had a string of US hits in the 1990s. The hits included the singles "Let Me Be The One", the Stevie Wonder cover "Ribbon in the Sky", "Funny How Time Flies" and their highest charting hit, "Come Inside".

Intro's Kenny Greene died from complications of AIDS in 2001. Intro recently emerged as a quintet consisting of Clinton "Buddy" Wike, Jeff Sanders, Ramon Adams and Eric Pruitt. Adams departed in 2014, with the group back down to its lineup as a trio. They are currently recording a new album to be released in 2015. The group released a new single in 2013 called "I Didn't Sleep With Her" and a new single "Lucky" in October 2014.

Demo (computer programming)

Within the computer subculture known as the demoscene, a non-interactive multimedia presentation is called a demo (or demonstration). Demogroups create demos to demonstrate their abilities in programming, music, drawing, and 3D modeling. The key difference between a classical animation and a demo is that the display of a demo is computed in real time, making computing power considerations the biggest challenge. Demos are mostly composed of 3D animations mixed with 2D effects and full screen effects.

The boot block demos of the 1980s, demos that were created to fit within the small (generally 512 to 4096 bytes) first block of the floppy disk that was to be loaded into RAM, were typically created so that software crackers could boast of their accomplishment prior to the loading of the game. What began as a type of electronic graffiti on cracked software became an art form unto itself. The demoscene both produced and inspired many techniques used by video games and 3D rendering applications today - for instance, light bloom, among others.
