Nick Steven Oliveri (born October 21, 1971) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter from Palm Desert, California. He is best known as the former bass guitarist of the hard rock band Queens of the Stone Age, with whom he recorded two studio albums. Oliveri has also been a member of Kyuss, Dwarves and Vista Chino.

Oliveri is currently the frontman of his project, Mondo Generator, a punk and metal hybrid that he formed in 1997.

Biography

Born in Los Angeles, Oliveri's first instrument was a guitar but later moved to bass. His major influences were Kiss, Black Sabbath, Ramones, Rush and Van Halen.

He began his career in 1987 with John Garcia, Brant Bjork, Josh Homme and Chris Cockrell under the band name Katzenjammer. In early 1989, after Oliveri's departure to play in other bands, the band would change its name to Sons of Kyuss, later shortening the name to Kyuss. He later rejoined the band, playing on the albums Wretch and Blues for the Red Sun. Oliveri would leave Kyuss again in early 1992, shortly after his father died in a car accident.

Oliveri (Sicilian: Uliveri) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about 150 kilometres (93 mi) east of Palermo and about 45 kilometres (28 mi) west of Messina. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,076 and an area of 10.3 square kilometres (4.0 sq mi).
