Introduction, The Introduction, Intro, or The Intro may refer to:

Intro (R&B group)

Intro is an American R&B trio from Brooklyn, New York City, New York. The trio consisted of members Jeff Sanders, Clinton "Buddy" Wike and lead singer/songwriter Kenny Greene. Intro released two albums (for Atlantic Records): 1993's Intro and their second album, 1995's New Life. The group had a string of US hits in the 1990s. The hits included the singles "Let Me Be The One", the Stevie Wonder cover "Ribbon in the Sky", "Funny How Time Flies" and their highest charting hit, "Come Inside".

Intro's Kenny Greene died from complications of AIDS in 2001. Intro recently emerged as a quintet consisting of Clinton "Buddy" Wike, Jeff Sanders, Ramon Adams and Eric Pruitt. Adams departed in 2014, with the group back down to its lineup as a trio. They are currently recording a new album to be released in 2015. The group released a new single in 2013 called "I Didn't Sleep With Her" and a new single "Lucky" in October 2014.

Introduction (music)

In music, the introduction is a passage or section which opens a movement or a separate piece, preceding the theme or lyrics. In popular music this is often abbreviated as intro. The introduction establishes melodic, harmonic, and/or rhythmic material related to the main body of a piece.

Introductions may consist of an ostinato that is used in the following music, an important chord or progression that establishes the tonality and groove for the following music, or they may be important but disguised or out-of-context motivic or thematic material. As such the introduction may be the first statement of primary or other important material, may be related to but different from the primary or other important material, or may bear little relation to any other material.

A common introduction to a rubato ballad is a dominant seventh chord with fermata, Play  an introduction that works for many songs is the last four or eight measures of the song, Play  while a common introduction to the twelve-bar blues is a single chorus. Play 

Edelweiss (beer)

Edelweiss is the name of two brands of beer:

Austrian beer

Edelweiss Weissbier (also spelled Edelweiß Weißbier), a wheat beer (or more specifically weissbier, a culturally and historically specific style of wheat beer), brewed until 2010 near Salzburg, Austria by Hofbräu Kaltenhausen, and since 2010 somewhere else (neither commercial nor brewery's websites provide any information on the subject). While the Edelweiss brand as a beer dates to 1986, the brewery itself was founded in 1475 as 'Kalte Bräuhaus' by the mayor of the village of Kaltenhausen, Johann Elsenhaimer.

According to the commercial website, the name Edelweiss is used as a metaphor for the beer's purity and singular uniqueness. The flower is not mentioned as an ingredient, but obtains its floral nature from the top fermented brewing process and its ingredients: pure alpine water, wheat malt, barley malt, hops and top fermented yeast.

The brand owner, Brau Union Österreich AG, is a subsidiary of Heineken International who also brews in France (in its Brasserie de la Valentine) a wheat beer under the same brand but with different marketing and ingredients.

EDELWEISS

EDELWEISS ( Expérience pour DEtecter Les WIMPs En [I] Site Souterrain) is a dark matter search experiment located at the Modane Underground Laboratory in France. The experiment uses cryogenic detectors, measuring both the phonon and ionization signals produced by particle interactions in germanium crystals. This technique allows nuclear recoils events to be distinguished from electron recoil events.

The EURECA project is a proposed future dark matter experiment, which will involve researchers from EDELWEISS and the CRESST dark matter search.

Dark matter

Dark matter is material which does not emit or absorb light. Measurements of the rotation curves of spiral galaxies suggest it makes up the majority of the mass of galaxies; and precision measurements of the cosmic microwave background radiation suggest it accounts for a significant fraction of the density of the Universe.

A possible explanation of dark matter comes from particle physics. WIMP (Weakly Interacting Massive Particle) is a general term for hypothetical particles which interact only through the weak nuclear and gravitational force. This theory suggests our galaxy is surrounded by a dark halo of such particles. EDELWEISS is one of a number of dark matter search experiments aiming to directly detect WIMP dark matter, by detecting the elastic scattering of a WIMP off an atom within a particle detector. As the interaction rate is so low, this requires sensitive detectors, good background discrimination, and a deep underground site (to reduce the background from cosmic rays).

Edelweiss (actress)

Edelweiss (Russian: Еделвайс and Bulgarian: Еделвайс) (born 1 September 1977 in Tyumen, Russia) is a Russian-Bulgarian actress, TV host, erotic model and former pornographic actress. She lives in Italy and is married to the Bulgarian photographer Aleksandar "Alex" Lomski.

Biography

Edelweiss was born 1 September 1977, in Tyumen, Russia. For 15 years she lives in Italy with her Bulgarian husband, the photographer Aleksandar "Alex" Lomski, who is also a former porn actor. Edelweiss met her future husband Aleksandar in Bulgaria. In 2006, she posed for the Bulgarian edition of Playboy magazine. In 2013, she participated in VIP Brother 5.
