Ghetto Concept

Ghetto Concept is a Canadian hip-hop duo from Toronto, Ontario, composed of Kwajo Cinqo and Dolo. Infinite, who is currently a solo artist, is a former member of Ghetto Concept.

History

Kwajo Cinqo (Kwajo Boateng) and Dolo (Lowell Frazier) formed Ghetto Concept in 1989, hailing from the Rexdale and Lawrence Heights neighbourhoods of Toronto. Their first single "Certified" was released in 1993, by independent label Groove-a-Lot Records. In 1995, they released "E-Z On Tha Motion", which introduced their newest member, Infinite (Desmond Francis). The group won Juno Awards in 1995 and 1996 for "Certified" and "E-Z On Tha Motion", respectively.

In 1995, Infinite left Ghetto Concept. Before he left, Ghetto Concept recorded a tribute to his brother entitled "Much Love", and it was released as a single and video in 1996. Infinite re-emerged as a solo artist in 1997, with the Juno-nominated track "Gotta Get Mine", featuring Divine Brown. Between 1997 and 1999, he released five singles, each of which were accompanied by a music video. In 1998, he released an EP, entitled 360 Degrees, which featured his previous singles. In 1999, he won a MuchMusic Video Award for "Take a Look". That year, he contributed three songs to the Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike game soundtrack. He also made an appearance in the film In Too Deep.

Infinite (Sam Concepcion album)

Infinite is the second studio album by Filipino singer Sam Concepcion. It was released on August 10, 2013 under Universal Records. The album celebrates Concepcion's 10 years in the music industry. The first single, "No Limitations" composed by international artist Billy Crawford was released on May 23, 2013 at iTunes and MyMusicStore by which it became number one for five weeks in a row. The music video was released on August 4, 2013 via YouTube which features a futuristic theme and a special participation by actress, Solenn Heussaff. The second single, "Mahal na Mahal" was released on July 29, 2013.

Background and release

On early 2013, Concepcion uploaded a blurred photo through his Instagram account regarding the setlist of his yet unknown album. On an interview with ABS-CBN, he stated, "It’s totally different from the way I used to sound. It’s a new sound and a new look for me as a recording artist. That’s one thing that my fans can look forward to." He also added,"It's going to be new music for me, something that you haven't heard me do." He added that the shift in image is also a way to "graduate" from his being identified with the popular kiddie talent search Little Big Star which he won in 2005. It was years 2012 through 2013 that he recorded most of the tracks featured on the album. Concepcion is thankful that he was given the chance to collaborate with the biggest names in the country's recording scene which includes Billy Crawford, Christian Bautista, Jay-R, among others. According to him, "The album is a preview of the many things I do as a performer. In this album, you'll see me dabble in different genres". It will be released on August 10, 2013 in celebration of his 10th anniversary in the Philippines' music industry.

Guru

Guru (Sanskrit: गुरु. IAST: guru) is a Sanskrit term that connotes someone who is a "teacher, guide or master" of certain knowledge. In pan-Indian traditions, guru is someone more than a teacher, traditionally a reverential figure to the student, with the guru serving as a "counselor, who helps mold values, shares experiential knowledge as much as literal knowledge, an exemplar in life, an inspirational source and who helps in the spiritual evolution of a student." The term also refers to someone who primarily is one's spiritual guide, who helps one to discover the same potentialities that the guru has already realized.

The oldest references to the concept of guru are found in the earliest Vedic texts of Hinduism. The guru, and gurukul – a school run by guru, were an established tradition in India by the 1st millennium BCE, and these helped compose and transmit the various Vedas, the Upanishads, texts of various schools of Hindu philosophy, and post-Vedic Shastras ranging from spiritual knowledge to various arts. By about mid 1st millennium CE, archaeological and epigraphical evidence suggest numerous larger institutions of gurus existed in India, some near Hindu temples, where guru-shishya tradition helped preserve, create and transmit various fields of knowledge. These gurus led broad ranges of studies including Hindu scriptures, Buddhist texts, grammar, philosophy, martial arts, music and painting.

Generic top-level domain

Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) are one of the categories of top-level domains (TLDs) maintained by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) for use in the Domain Name System of the Internet. A top-level domain is the last label of every fully qualified domain name. They are called generic for historic reasons; initially, they were contrasted with country-specific TLDs in RFC 920.

The core group of generic top-level domains consists of the com, info, net, and org domains. In addition, the domains biz, name, and pro are also considered generic; however, these are designated as restricted, because registrations within them require proof of eligibility within the guidelines set for each.

Historically, the group of generic top-level domains included domains, created in the early development of the domain name system, that are now sponsored by designated agencies or organizations and are restricted to specific types of registrants. Thus, domains edu, gov, int, and mil are now considered sponsored top-level domains, much like the themed top-level domains (e.g., jobs). The entire group of domains that do not have a geographic or country designation (see country-code top-level domain) is still often referred to by the term generic TLDs.

Gurmukhī alphabet

Gurmukhi (IPA: [ɡʊɾmʊkʰi]) is an alphabetic abugida developed from the Laṇḍā scripts and was standardised during the 16th century by Guru Angad, the second guru of Sikhism. Although the word Gurmukhī has been commonly translated as "from the Mouth of the Guru," the prevalent view among Punjabi linguists is that as in the early stages the Gurmukhī letters were primarily used by Gurmukhs (literally, those who follow or face the Guru), the script came to be associated with them. The whole of the Guru Granth Sahib is written in this script, and it is the script most commonly used by Sikhs and Hindus for writing the Punjabi language.

Modern Gurmukhi has thirty-eight consonants (vianjan), nine vowel symbols (lāga mātrā), two symbols for nasal sounds (bindī and ṭippī), and one symbol which duplicates the sound of any consonant (addak). In addition, four conjuncts are used: three subjoined forms of the consonants Rara, Haha and Vava, and one half-form of Yayya. Use of the conjunct forms of Vava and Yayya is increasingly scarce in modern contexts.
