    Durai (born 25 February 1940) is a Tamil film director who was mostly active during the 1970s. As of 2014, he has directed 46 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Though known for his work in commercial cinema, he made films women-centric like Avalum Penthaane and Pasi, which won two National Film Awards. He served as a jury member of the 58th National Film Awards (India) in 2011. As of 2011, he was the vice president of the South Indian Film Writers' Association.

    Plot

    Raja (Arjun) works with a cook Arusuvai Ambi (Vivek). Raja comes across Anjali (Keerat), who catches his interest. She falls for Raja. But Raja cannot remember anything of his past. All he recollects are vague images and memories that disturb him in his sleep. After a sequence of events and chase by rowdies, Raja collects his past.

    Raja, a year ago was Dorai, who was the close associate of honest politician Deivanayagam (K Viswanath). Dorai who leads a happy life with his wife (Gajala) and his son, is hesitant to assume the post. Anjali (Keerat), a reporter, pursues him for interviews and falls in love. Deivanayagam is killed and the blame falls on Dorai. His wife and son are murdered. Eventually, Dorai alias Raja takes on his enemies cracks the truth behind Deivanayakam's death. Action oozes all the way.
