Those Days (novel)

Those Days (Bengali: সেই সময়) is an award-winning historical novel by Sunil Gangopadhyay. It was first published as a serialized novel in Bengali literary magazine Desh. Sunil Gangopadhyay won Sahitya Akademi Award for this novel in 1985. The story of the novel centers around many historical figures including Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, the reformer; Michael Madhusudan Dutt, the poet; the father and son duo of Dwarkanath Tagore and Debendranath Tagore; Harish Mukherjee, the journalist; Keshab Chandra Sen, the Brahmo Samaj radical; David Hare and John Bethune the English educationists, and others.

Those Days (band)

"Those Days" is a Russian alternative rock band with remarkable emo-influences. The band has released a self-titled LP ("Те Дни" in Russian) in 2005 and an EP ("Как мало от тебя осталось", "How few left of you" in English) in the following year. The band's style is an energetic blend of alternative rock with emo-like vocal passages. There is an English song by Those Days from their debut called "Until the Day I Die". BIO The band was formed in 2005 by 2 core members and friends - Volk and Pelican. Since then, the band has released 3 albums on an Independent Label(CarnyMarny Records) and 1 album on an indie label(Trustrecords). The band toured extensively around Russia to support the cd's and has sold approx 10 000 copies to date. At the moment, the band is working on the foloow up to "Silly we are"(2009) with release date in late 2011.

In Those Days

In Those Days (German:In jenen Tagen) is a 1947 German drama film directed by Helmut Käutner and starring Gert Schäfer, Erich Schellow and Winnie Markus. It was one of the cycle of Rubble films made in the wake of Germany's defeat during World War II. The film addresses issues of collective guilt during the Nazi era, using the device of a car built in 1933 and dismantled in 1947 narrating the various experiences of its owners in a series of seven separate episodes. The film's objective was to highlight the private resistance of various figures to the Nazis even while they publicly accepted the repression of Nazi society.

Production

The film was produced in Hamburg in the British Zone as part of a growing post-war trend in western Germany of moving film production away from its traditional centre of Berlin. The film was made under extremely difficult conditions including a lack of raw film stock and hunger amongst the cast and technicians. The director, Helmut Käutner, had several of his earlier films banned by the Nazis which led to him being perceived as possessing greater moral authority than many of his colleagues. Consequently, the film was seen as a standard-bearer for the values of the post-war German film industry.
