In the Name of Love (Thompson Twins song)

"In the Name of Love" is a 1982 single written and performed by The Thompson Twins, at the time a septet (Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie, Joe Leeway, John Roog, Chris Bell, Peter Dodd, and Matthew Seligman). It was the first of twelve entries on the Billboard dance chart for the group, and the first entry for the band in the lower reaches of the US and UK pop charts (peaking outside the UK top 75, and "bubbling under" the hot 100 on the US charts.)

"In the Name of Love" went to number one on the dance music chart and stayed there for five weeks, and spent a total of twenty-one weeks on the chart. It peaked at number sixty-nine on the Billboard R&B chart.

The track was rereleased in 1988 in a remix by Shep Pettibone, resulting in another number-one single on the dance chart, as well as reaching number forty-six on the UK Singles Chart.

Plot

With barely anything to live for, Emman Toledo (Aga Muhlach), a former dancer, is just about to start his life all over again. He holds the good memories of his past dearly, knowing he will never be able to bring back his better days. An unlikely opportunity comes up when he is assigned to be the dance instructor for the upcoming Governor's Ball of the powerful political family of the Evelinos, a chance for him to rekindle his lost passion.

It will be at this ball where the engagement of the governor's son, Dylan Evelino (Jake Cuenca), and Cedes Fernandez (Angel Locsin) will be announced. Despite her hatred for the dirty politics, Cedes has no choice but to succumb to the decision of Dylan out of her indebtedness towards the family.

In the Name Of was a Britanic record label owned by Sony Music Entertainment and founded in 2011 by singer Lily Allen.

Background

The singer has been working on establishing her label since 2009, when she also announced she would take a break from recording her own music, adding she wanted to set up her own label as she was disillusioned with the music industry. She said: "I'm setting up a record label at the moment, getting involved in lots of different things. I think things need to change in the music industry and we need to rethink a lot of stuff."

In January 2011, Allen's representatives confirmed she is launching her own record label, known as In the Name Of. The first act signed to the label which is financially backed by Sony Music is New York noise pop duo, Cults. Sony is backing the new company and they have given Allen her own £100,000 salary to hire staff and set up an office, according to UK newspaper The Sun.

The film won the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film on LGBT topics at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival and was screened at the Frameline Film Festival at the Castro Theater in San Francisco on 25 June 2013. The film focuses on a closeted gay Catholic priest living in rural Poland.
