"In & Out" is the debut single by American R&B singer Marcus Canty, featuring rapper Wale.

Background

After signing a record deal with Epic Records, Marcus released a single called "Won't Make a Fool Out of You," which was featured in the movie Think Like a Man. He later collaborated with rapper Wale on his second official single. The song was produced by Harmony Samuels. Marcus revealed that he hoped Wale would collaborate on the single stating "you know his buzz and his skills, and his ability on my record would take it to the next level and bring more fans that I may wouldn't have reached if he wasn't on the record too."

Promotion

On August 23, 2012, Marcus joined LA Reid on Access Hollywood to promote the single and the upcoming music video.

Reception

Critical reception

The song has received positive reviews from critics. Amy Sciarretto of Pop Crush gave the song a positive review, though started off with how the "dark song gallops with beats and the singer's dreamy voice is not as evident here. That's not a bad thing, though." She complimented how Marcus is "branching out and trying something edgy." Lyndsey Parker of Yahoo! Canada gave the song a positive review, saying "the high-energy jam, which features a rap by the very credible, sounds shockingly current, badass and funky-fresh."

In & Out (festival)

In&Out, originally called Rencontres Cinématographiques, is a queer (before 2011, lesbian and gay) film festival of Nice organized by the association Les Ouvreurs. The event takes place each year in April.

History

The beginnings of In&Out

In 2008, the Rencontres Cinématographiques (Cinematographic Encounters) festival of gay and lesbian films was organized by Benoît Arnulf, under the aegis of a local LGBT association that he co-founded, in partnership with certain Nice cinemas. Around twenty films were presented at the festival, it drew the interest of nearly a thousand spectators. Directors Jacques Nolot, Céline Sciamma, and Alessandro Avelis were also in attendance and met with fans.

In&Out 2009: The first Rencontres

The success of 2008’s Rencontres Cinématographiques incited Les Ouvreurs to organize an identical event the following year, under a new name In&Out. The first Rencontres In&Out took place from April 29 to May 5, 2009, in partnership with several cultural sites in Nice. Eclecticism reigned again in the programming, which proposed two retrospectives (of André Téchiné and of Olivier Ducastel & Jacques Martineau), a homage to film-maker poet Pier Paolo Pasolini, a Rocky Horror Show evening as lively in the audience as on the screen, and hitherto unreleased films (Otto; or Up With Dead People by Bruce LaBruce, Give Me Your Hand by Pascal-Alex Vincent, Les règles du Vatican by Alessandro Avellis). The critic Didier Roth-Bettoni attended to present his book, “L’homosexualité au cinema”, and an exhibition of photographs celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Second-in-command

The second-in-command (2i/c or 2IC) is the deputy commander of any British Army or Royal Marines unit, from battalion or regiment downwards. He or she is thus the equivalent of an executive officer in the United States Army. This terminology is also used in many other Commonwealth armies.

The second-in-command of a battalion is usually a major and the second-in-command of a regiment is a lieutenant colonel. The second-in-command of a company, squadron or artillery battery (in which he or she is called the battery captain) is usually a captain (although infantry company second-in-commands were usually lieutenants until after the Second World War), the second-in-command of a platoon or troop is the platoon or troop sergeant, and the second-in-command of a section is usually a lance corporal.

In the Royal Navy, the second-in-command of a vessel is known as the first lieutenant or executive officer.

Other meanings/uses

In common usage, the term refers to a deputy. Its basic meaning is "someone who relieves a commander". When the first-in-command is absent, the second-in-command will temporarily assume the duties thereof. Some have asserted that there exists the theoretical concept of a third-in-command whereby the so-called "third-in-command" assumes the duties of the absent second-in-command, excepting, of course, when the first-in-command is not absent.
