Rosie Thomas is an American singer-songwriter and stand-up comedian, originally from Michigan.
Raised in Detroit, Thomas learned piano and guitar as a child. She attended Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta, California for a year before studying Theatre at Cornish College in Seattle.
Through mutual friends she met Trey Many and began playing shows with Velour 100. They recorded one EP together and played a few short tours, where she met Damien Jurado and David Bazan.
Thomas' appearance on the song "Parking Lot", from Damien Jurado's album Ghost of David, brought her to the attention of Sub Pop Records, who signed her in 2000. Her first recording for the label was a duet with Jurado on "Wages of Sin" on Badlands: A Tribute To Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska. Her debut album When We Were Small was released on January 22, 2001. The album featured Eric Fisher (who Thomas met at Cornish College) on guitar and keyboards and Andy Myers on drums. Fisher and Myers returned for 2003's follow-up Only with Laughter Can You Win.
In Between may refer to:
Acey Deucey, also known as In-Between or Sheets, is a simple card game that involves betting.
Before the action, each player must add their ante into the pot. Two cards are then dealt face-up to one player. That player then bets from nothing to the amount that is in the pot at the time whether or not the third card will numerically fall in between the first two. If the third card falls in between the two other cards, the bettor takes the amount he bet out of the pot; if the third card falls outside of the two other cards, the bettor must add what he bet to the pot; and if the third card matches the numerical value of one of the other two cards, the bettor must add to the pot double what he bet. If two cards of the same value come up, e.g. 2,2 the bettor picks if the next card will be higher or lower and bets. If the next card is the same as the last two, i.e. a 2, the bettor must triple his/her bet.
The rules and specifics of the game often vary from region to region. For example in Liaoning province, northeast China the minimum number of players is 4 and each player is required to ante before the first card is turned. Two cards are then dealt face-up to one player. That player then bets from nothing to the amount that is in the pot at the time (during the first time around the table players are only allowed to bet up to half of the pot) whether or not the third card will numerically fall in between the first two. Other regions, such as in the United States, play the game by combining two decks of cards. This adds another dynamic to the game due to the extra number of similar type cards. Beyond that, most of the other rules followed by United States players are similar to those which are observed in the Liaoning province.
Minutes to Midnight is the third studio album by American rock band Linkin Park, released on May 14, 2007, through Warner Bros. Records. The album was produced by Mike Shinoda and Rick Rubin. Minutes to Midnight was the band's follow-up album to Meteora (2003) and features a shift in the group's musical direction. For the band, the album marks a beginning of deviation from their signature nu metal sound. Minutes to Midnight takes its title from the Doomsday Clock.
Linkin Park started work on their third studio album in 2003, taking a break to tour in support of Meteora in 2004. In this time period, the band formed numerous side projects; Mike Shinoda formed his hip hop side project Fort Minor, while Chester Bennington formed Dead by Sunrise, causing the album to be shelved temporarily. The band returned to work on the record afterward, taking on a different musical direction than the 2003 sessions while working with producer Rick Rubin. The album's completion was delayed several times for unknown reasons. Eventually, "What I've Done" was chosen as the album's lead single in April 2007, with the album seeing release in North America on May 15, 2007.
looks like i've done what i can
tried to give my last breath
it was all that i had
so i ruled with my pen
try to call you my friend
becoming more what you request
who's going to finish my coffee now that you're gone?
looks like i've done it again
try to be all i am
not enough to have your hand
so i travelled far
with your letters in my hands
and then stand with confidence
who's going to make me laugh now that you're gone?
who's going to make me laugh now that you're gone?
looks like i've done it again
put my trust in a man
who made my garden next to him
but i can breathe on my own
i do not need his backbone
though it was nice sometimes to lean
now i seem lost and inbetween
who's going to make me laugh now that you're gone?
why do words sometimes grow weak as time goes on?
