The 69 Eyes

The 69 Eyes are a multi-platinum selling Finnish rock band. They are currently signed to EMI Finland. The band's albums are now distributed worldwide. The End Records acts as the band's official North American distributor, as Nuclear Blast Records provides distribution in Mainland Europe, Ireland and the UK. Australia will be handled by AmpHead Music. All Asian and Latin American releases are handled by EMI affiliates.

Music style

Initially, The 69 Eyes' music style was of glam metal and sleaze rock, influenced by acts such as Mötley Crüe and Hanoi Rocks. However, they began to incorporate more influence from gothic rock bands such as The Mission, The Cult, The Sisters of Mercy and The Lords of the New Church. Their sound was described as a mix of the gloominess of gothic rock with guitar-powered rock'n'roll. Their music continued to show further influence from other rock artists such as The Doors, Elvis Presley, and Billy Idol as well as vampire films and literature. The term "goth 'n roll" is used by fans to describe their style. They are often described as a dark rock band, a term which the band has embraced. In recent times, with the release of Back in Blood The 69 Eyes have moved back to a more guitar based sound, although gothic imagery and lyrical themes remain forefront in their style.

Ghost (Gackt song)

"Ghost" is the twenty-ninth single by Japanese musical artist Gackt, released on January 28, 2009.

Summary

"Ghost" continues the concept from the Requiem et Reminiscence II 2008-2009 tour and the Asakura Report, began by the release of single "Jesus". The song is used as the theme to the Japanese broadcast of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

A limited edition version with a PV was released on January 21, 2009 for members of Gackt's official fanclub, Dears, and the regular edition was released on January 28, 2009.

Music video

There are two versions of the music video that exist, one of which features clips from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

The video starts off in a darkened locker room where shards of glass and metal lie on the floor. A male Caucasian janitor arrives with a mop and bucket and starts cleaning up the debris. Afterward, he moves on to the next room, which is a laboratory also in a mess, switches on a light and continues cleaning, unaware that there are five shadowy figures standing in the background, each with glowing red eyes. The janitor gets his iPod Touch out to select some music to listen to while cleaning up the mess and whilst mopping, he accidentally hits a button that causes the ceiling light to send out blasts of electricity, which hits and shatters some glasses and zaps the figures, revealing them to be Gackt and his backup dancers, who are androids. As a result of the electricity's impact, they come to life and the janitor stops what he is doing and looks on in shock.

Dope (band)

Dope is an American heavy metal band from Villa Park, Illinois, formed in 1997 in Chicago.

To date, the band has released five full-length studio albums. Their most recent, No Regrets, was released on March 10, 2009.

History

The band was founded by song writer and lead singer Edsel Dope in 1997. As a child, Edsel and his brother, Simon Dope, were separated when their parents divorced. When the two were adults, they reunited and Simon joined Edsel's band, playing keyboards. The pair then recruited Tripp Eisen as guitarist, Preston Nash as drummer, and Acey Slade as bassist.

Unlike many of the popular bands from the 1990s, Dope derived their sound from influences taken from heavy metal bands and fused that with the sound of industrial rock acts who had made waves earlier in the decade, such as Ministry and Skinny Puppy.

In their earliest days, the band sold drugs to survive and purchase instruments. Furthermore, the name "Dope" refers to drugs and drug culture, as shown by their early T-shirt designs, which prominently displayed hypodermic needles.

HBO

HBO (Home Box Office) is an American premium cable and satellite television network that is owned by Home Box Office Inc., the cable flagship division of Time Warner. HBO's programming consists primarily of theatrically released motion pictures and original television series, along with made-for-cable movies and documentaries, boxing matches and occasional stand-up comedy and concert specials.

It is the oldest and longest continuously operating pay television service (basic or premium) in the United States, having been in operation since November 8, 1972. In 2014, HBO had an adjusted operating income of US$1.79 billion, compared to the US$1.68 billion it accrued in 2013.

Overview

As of July 2015, HBO's programming is available to approximately 36,483,000 households with at least one television set (31.3% of all cable, satellite and telco customers) in the United States (36,013,000 subscribers or 30.9% of all households with pay television service receive at least HBO's primary channel), making it the second largest premium channel in the United States (Encore's programming reaches 40.54 million pay television households as of July 2015). In addition to its U.S. subscriber base, HBO broadcasts in at least 151 countries, covering approximately 122 million subscribers worldwide.

Discrete optimized protein energy

DOPE, or Discrete Optimized Protein Energy, is a statistical potential used to assess homology models in protein structure prediction. DOPE is based on an improved reference state that corresponds to noninteracting atoms in a homogeneous sphere with the radius dependent on a sample native structure; it thus accounts for the finite and spherical shape of the native structures. It is implemented in the popular homology modeling program MODELLER and used to assess the energy of the protein model generated through many iterations by MODELLER, which produces homology models by the satisfaction of spatial restraints. The models returning the minimum molpdfs can be chosen as best probable structures and can be further used for evaluating with the DOPE score. Like the current version of the MODELLER software, DOPE is implemented in Python and is run within the MODELLER environment. The DOPE method is generally used to assess the quality of a structure model as a whole. Alternatively, DOPE can also generate a residue-by-residue energy profile for the input model, making it possible for the user to spot the problematic region in the structure model.

Impulse (software company)

Impulse, Inc. is a software company responsible for making several 3D modeling and rendering applications. Most notably TurboSilver and Imagine for the Amiga computer. They were originally located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. After moving to Las Vegas they became more and more involved in creating software for casino video slot machines.
