Swingin' Easy

Swingin' Easy is a 1957 studio album by the American jazz singer Sarah Vaughan.

On the second chorus of "All of Me" Vaughan bops in "a quite extraordinary fashion, covering more than two octaves" (from the sleeve notes). "Pennies from Heaven" is taken slower than is usual and Vaughan creates a brand new melody the second time around, a kind of descant improvising on the original tune.

Eight of the tracks, recorded on April 2, 1954, with John Malachi on piano and Joe Benjamin on bass, were originally released that year on a 10-inch LP entitled Images.

The initial Billboard review from November 1957 said the album was a "commentary on Miss Vaughan's high level of professionalism and ease in jazz environment. Relaxed quality is keynote here as the singer makes the difficult sound easy." The Billboard review highlighted "Words Can't Describe", which noted that it was given an "especially cogent reading".

Images (Cilla Black album)

Images is the title of Cilla Black's sixth solo studio album released in 1971 by Parlophone Records. It was notably Cilla's penultimate album project with George Martin and it also was a change in direction for Cilla with a more contemporary pop sound.

Re-Release

On 7 September 2009, EMI Records release a special edition of the album exclusively to digital download. This re-issue features all of the album's original recordings re-mastered by Abbey Road Studios from original 1/4" stereo master tapes. A digital booklet containing original album artwork, detailed track information and rare photographs will be available from iTunes with purchases of the entire album re-issue.

Images (Dan Hartman album)

Images is Dan Hartman's second full-length release but his first album of new material. It features an interesting mix of players to assist the multi-instrumentalist continue his pop rock themes featured in his tenure with the Edgar Winter Group and fittingly has Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer and Ronnie Montrose as guests. Montrose appears on two songs which was in exchange for the two Hartman written songs, "What are You Waiting For?" and "Rich Man", that appeared on Jump On It, the same year. Drummer John Wilcox and bassist John Siegler, both of Utopia, were the principal rhythm section.

Other guests include Clarence Clemons, Randy Brecker, Hartman's father, Carl and from his hometown band, The Legends, drummer Larry Sadler. Supplying background vocals on two songs was RSO Records's soul group, Revelation.

Continuing themes heard on They Only Come Out at Night, Hartman follows up with two Montrose-assisted straight-ahead rockers. "High Sign" sounds like the son of "Free Ride" with Ronnie supplying a revving sports car sound reminiscent of "Bad Motor Scooter". "The Party's in the Back Room" has the party continuing from "We All Had a Real Good Time". "Alta Mira"'s reggae flavor resurfaces on "Love It Too Much". The soothing acoustic sounds of "Autumn" echo back on "Thank You for the Good Times" and "My Love".

Maple GO Station

Maple GO Station is a train and bus station on GO Transit's Barrie line, located in Maple, Ontario, Canada. It is Ontario's oldest operating railway station, with passenger service dating back to 1853.

History

Maple Station opened on May 16, 1853 when the service began on the Ontario, Simcoe, and Huron Railroad between Toronto and Machell's Corners (now Aurora). At the time, the station was named "Richmond Hill", despite being six kilometres west of that community. Train service was extended to Barrie later in 1853, and to Collingwood in 1855.

The current station building was constructed in 1903 by the Grand Trunk Railway to replace the original Ontario, Simcoe and Huron building, which had burned down. The Queen Anne style timber frame structure is clad in wood using stick style patterns, and features large gables in its roofline. It is federally protected by the Heritage Railway Stations Protection Act.

The building underwent renovations that were completed in January 2014 for CA$1.7 million. It included repairs to the facade and interior, replacement of the floor, and an upgrade to the accessibility ramps. An additional 60 parking spaces were added to the station in the spring of 2015.
