Hoodlum (film)
Hoodlum is a 1997 crime drama film that gives a fictionalized account of the gang war between the Italian/Jewish mafia alliance and the Black gangsters of Harlem that took place in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The film concentrated on Ellsworth "Bumpy" Johnson (Laurence Fishburne), Dutch Schultz (Tim Roth), and Lucky Luciano (Andy García).
Plot
After being paroled from Sing Sing, Bumpy Johnson (Laurence Fishburne) returns to Harlem to resume his old life. He is welcomed back by his cousin, Illinois Gordon (Chi McBride) as well as Stephanie "Madame Queen" St. Clair, the monarch reigning over the numbers racket in Harlem. The psychopathic Dutch Schultz (Tim Roth), a Mafia associate who reports to mob boss Charles "Lucky" Luciano (Andy Garcia) runs the numbers rackets in downtown New York. His gang has been crowding into Harlem, terrorizing residents to only play the numbers with his operation.
While hanging on the stoop one afternoon with Illinois and his girlfriend Mary, Bumpy meets one of Mary's friends, Francine (Vanessa Williams). She and Illinois talk trash to each other, with her disapproving of the 'numbers' rackets Illinois is involved in and him defending it as the only way to make ends meet in the Depression. Bumpy introduces himself to her and is obviously interested. They meet again in a nightclub and dance together. Bumpy walks Francine home and they debate the effect of gambling in Harlem on its citizens. At her door, she says that he could do anything he wanted. He responds that he has written some poetry and then recites a poem to her, about her beautiful eyes.

Hoodlum is an Australian production company founded by Nathan Mayfield and Tracey Robertson. Hoodlum has a main office in Brisbane and a U.S. office in Los Angeles.
In 2014, Hoodlum's television division produced the six-part show Secrets & Lies for Network Ten Australia. Hoodlum also produced the adaptation Secrets and Lies for ABC (U.S.), which is returning for a second season in 2016.
In 2012 Hoodlum produced The Strange Calls, a six-part narrative comedy series for Australia’s ABC. In January 2015, a U.S. adaptation of The Strange Calls was ordered to pilot at NBC. Hoodlum is also working with ABC (U.S.) on a remake of Fat Cow Motel, their 13-part TV comedy series. In 2011, Hoodlum produced the FOX8 multiplatform 10-part TV drama series SLiDE, which was nominated for an International Emmy.
In 2015, Hoodlum is producing for Disney a teen sci-fi feature film Red Sands set in the Australian Outback. Hoodlum is also developing the psychological thriller Exposure for A&E Studios and Lifetime (U.S.) and supernatural drama Tidelands for ITV (U.S.).

Ignition (student training)
Ignition is a transition and mentorship program that is implemented in high schools across the United States. The program was developed and trademarked by Focus Training, a leadership development company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The goal of Ignition is to build student relationships and make transition from middle school to high school a positive experience for students, administrators, and teachers. The program utilizes upperclassmen to act as mentors to incoming freshmen for the entire 9th grade school year. Mentors help freshmen acclimate to the high school environment, deal with the challenges of the new school, and learn successful behaviors. As of 2010 the Ignition program is implemented at over 220 schools nationwide and serves over 100,000 students and educators.
