Iga, Mie

Iga (伊賀市 Iga-shi) is a city located in central Kii Peninsula, in the mountainous western Mie Prefecture, Japan.

As of September 2012, the city has an estimated population of 95,137 and a population density of 170 persons per km2. The total area is 558.15 km2.

    Iga has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification Cfa) with hot summers and cold winters. Precipitation is significant throughout the year, but is heaviest from June to September.

    History

    The area around the modern city of Iga corresponds to a portion of ancient Iga Province. The area was noted in the Sengoku period as one of the centers for ninjutsu. The town developed in the Edo period under the Tokugawa Shogunate as a castle town under Iga Ueno Castle. Iga is known as the birthplace of the haiku poet Matsuo Bashō and the home of the ninja Hattori Hanzo.

    Iga, Mie (town)

    Iga (伊賀町 Iga-chō) was a town located in Ayama District, Mie Prefecture, Japan.

    On November 1, 2004, Iga absorbed the city of Ueno, the town of Ayama, the villages of Ōyamada and Shimagahara (all from Ayama District), and the town of Aoyama (from Naga District) to create the city of Iga.

  • April 1, 1889 - Due to the municipal status enforcement, the villages of Higashitsue, Nishitsuge, and Mibuno were born.
  • July 1, 1942 - The village of Higashitsuge was elevated to town status to become the town of town of Tsuge.
  • January 1, 1955 - The villages of Nishitsuge and Mibuno were merged to create the village of Kasuga.
  • March 20, 1959 - The town of Tsuge, and the village of Kasuga were merged to create the town of Iga.

    Mień [mjɛɲ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Brańsk, within Bielsk County, Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland. It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) west of Brańsk, 34 km (21 mi) west of Bielsk Podlaski, and 50 km (31 mi) south-west of the regional capital Białystok.

    The village has a population of 610.

    Mie (crater)

    Mie Crater is an impact crater in the Cebrenia quadrangle of Mars, located at 48.5°N latitude and 220.4°W longitude. It is 104.0  km in diameter and was named after Gustav Mie, and the name was approved in 1973 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN).
