Robert Smith (Cumberland cricketer)

Robert Smith (born February 1, 1982) was an English cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman who played for Cumberland.

Smith made a single List A appearance for the team, in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy in August 2001. He scored 3 runs in his innings, as opponents Warwickshire CB won by a narrow margin, thanks mostly to a century from Jim Troughton.

Robert Sidney Smith (31 January 1919 – 29 November 2009 in London, England) was an expert on the history of the Yoruba people of Nigeria and was a Senior Lecturer and then Professor of History at the universities of Lagos, Ife and Ibadan. He was born on 31 January 1919. For many years he lived near Kew Gardens in London and died in London on 29 November 2009.

Smith studied and taught at the Institute of African Studies in the University of Ibadan in Nigeria from its foundation in 1962.

He authored the following books:

If I Were You (Hubbard novel)

If I Were You is a fantasy novel written by L. Ron Hubbard. It was originally published in the February, 1940 issue of Five-Novels Monthly Magazine.

Plot

The story revolves around carnival midget “Tom Little” who is loved by the public and carnival folk alike. Although he is a successful circus star, his all consuming desire to be as tall and imposing as the carnival chief, eventually comes to fruition, but not without severe consequences!

It all starts with the discovery of a set of ancient books containing the secret of switching bodies. With this knowledge, Tom can finally trade his small frame for the tall, larger than life frame of the lion tamer carnival chief. As he switches bodies, his triumphant glee is soon replaced by abject terror as he realizes he is caged with forty savage cats!

If I Were You was written and published in 1940, and contains the pulp fiction style fantasy, danger, and the supernatural.

If I Were You is from the Golden Age series which Galaxy Press started re-publishing in 2008. The book has been re-released in paperback, with French flaps, glossaries, and author bio. It is also available as a full-cast audiobook, with music and sound effects, featuring Nancy Cartwright. Also starring Lynsey Bartilson, R.F. Daley, Bob Caso, Jim Meskimen, Jennifer Darling, John Mariano, Phil Proctor, and Tait Ruppert.

If I Were You (Collin Raye song)

"If I Were You" is a song written by John Hobbs and Chris Farren, and recorded by American country music singer Collin Raye. It was released in April 1995 as the fifth and final single from his album Extremes. It peaked at #4 both in the United States and in Canada. The song is not to be confused with a different composition titled "If I Were You", which appears on Raye's debut album All I Can Be.

If I Were You is a comedy advice podcast created and hosted by Jewish American comedians Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld, known for their involvement with CollegeHumor and their web series Jake and Amir. First released on May 13, 2013, new episodes are posted every Monday (as well as occasional bonus Thursday episodes) and involve the hosts attempting to give humorous advice to listeners who have submitted their problems.

Content

Each episode of If I Were You begins and ends with a different theme tune created by a listener. The format of the show consists of hosts Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld reading out questions—or, some episodes, playing audio questions—emailed to them by listeners with problems; usually three or four questions every episode. They assign the listener a pseudonym (often humorous or that of a popular fictional character) and discuss the problem, often brainstorming ideas and improvising humorous situations, before reaching and summarizing a conclusion of what the person should do.
