Four Walls (song)

"Four Walls" is a country song written in 1957 by Marvin Moore and George Campbell.

Jim Reeves’ version of the song went to number 1 in 1957 on the Country music chart and number 12 on the Pop chart. The vocal backing on this Jim Reeves recording is by the vocal group The Jordanaires.

The song has been recorded by other artists, including Bing Crosby, Kay Starr, B. J. Thomas, Willie Nelson, and Jerry Lee Lewis.Ronnie Milsap recorded a version for a tribute album to Reeves in 1981, featuring ten songs previously made hits by Reeves both before and after his death. Milsap’s album title was derived from the opening line of "Four Walls," "Out where the bright lights are glowing."

Walls is the second studio album by An Horse. It was recorded in Vancouver, Canada in Summer 2010, and released on 26 April 2011 in the United States and Canada and on 29 April 2011 in Australia, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by Mom + Pop Music. It features Kate Cooper on lead guitar and vocals, Damon Cox on drums, and was produced and mixed by Howard Redekopp. The album has been praised for its "gritty, understated approach", but has also received criticism for not deviating substantially from their approach with Rearrange Beds.

Walls is the fifth overall release and fourth EP by the Brisbane band The Red Paintings. Released in Australia on 23 May 2005, it is considered their first major breakthrough, and was received with praise and favourable reviews.

Critical response

Walls was very well received by Sputnikmusic, and featured in their "Staff Picks" list. Staff reveiver Jom praised the band for producing "arguably the most remarkable EP of 2005" and summarised the album as a "phenomenal EP that defines The Red Paintings' stellar musicianship".

The Sydney Morning Herald's Bernard Zuel, described the EP as "psychedelia the way it's meant to be" and likened them to The Decemberists and the Arcade Fire.
