Kellie Pickler

Kellie Dawn Pickler (born June 28, 1986) is an American country music artist and television personality. She gained fame as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol, and finished in sixth place. In 2006, she signed to 19 Recordings and BNA Records as a recording artist, releasing her debut album, Small Town Girl, later that year. As of 2014, it has sold over 900,000 copies. The album, which was certified gold by the RIAA, produced three singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts: "Red High Heels" at number fifteen, "I Wonder" at number fourteen, and "Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind" at number sixteen. She released her self-titled second album in Fall 2008 and has produced the singles "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" at number twenty-one, "Best Days of Your Life" at number nine (which she co-wrote with Taylor Swift and her first Top 10 hit), "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" at number fourteen, and "Makin' Me Fall in Love Again" at number thirty. In 2012, she was ranked as the 14th best American Idol alumna. She also parted ways with her former record label. In October 2012, she signed with Black River Entertainment. On May 21, 2013, Pickler and her partner Derek Hough were declared the winners of sixteenth season of Dancing with the Stars.

Kellie Pickler is the self-titled second studio album by American country artist Kellie Pickler. The lead-off single, "Don't You Know You're Beautiful", was debuted at the 43rd Academy Of Country Music awards and peaked at 21 on Hot Country Songs. The album was released via BNA Records/19 Recordings on September 30, 2008. Since the albums' release, three more singles have charted; "Best Days of Your Life" at number 9 (which was co-wrote with fellow country artist Taylor Swift), "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" at number 14 (a re-recording of an album cut from Pickler's debut album Small Town Girl) and "Makin' Me Fall in Love Again" at number 30.

"I Wonder" is a song written by Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo, Karyn Rochelle, and co-written and recorded by American country artist Kellie Pickler. It was released as the second single from her debut album Small Town Girl (2006), on February 5, 2007.

"I Wonder" peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and number 75 on the Billboard Hot 100. The accompanying music video for the song was shot in the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, where Picker performs the song. The video won three awards at the 2008 CMT Music Awards. Pickler, who co-wrote the song about her childhood, was notably emotional when performing the song live, especially on the 2007 CMA Awards, where her performance received a standing ovation.

Content

"I Wonder" is a piano ballad with steel guitar fills, that describes the personal experiences of Pickler's childhood, in which her mother was absent.

In early 2007, after hearing one of Pickler's songs, her mother, Cynthia Morton, wrote her a letter. The letter arrived after "I Wonder" was written, and was not the inspiration for the song.

Brenda Lee

Brenda Mae Tarpley (born December 11, 1944), known as Brenda Lee, is an American performer and the top-charting solo female vocalist of the 1960s. She sang rockabilly, pop and country music, and had 47 US chart hits during the 1960s, and is ranked fourth in that decade surpassed only by Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Ray Charles. She is perhaps best known in the United States for her 1960 hit "I'm Sorry", and 1958's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", a United States holiday standard for more than 50 years.

At 4 ft 9 inches tall (approximately 145 cm), she received the nickname Little Miss Dynamite in 1957 after recording the song "Dynamite" and was one of the earliest pop stars to have a major contemporary international following.

Lee's popularity faded in the late 1960s as her voice matured, but she continued a successful recording career by returning to her roots as a country singer with a string of hits through the 1970s and 1980s. "I Wonder (Departure)" is a song by ABBA, released on their 1977 album ABBA: The Album. It was originally part of the ABBA-produced mini-musical The Girl with the Golden Hair, which they performed at the end of each of their 1977 concert tours.

Production

In a hypothetical sequel to Mamma Mia put together by the Telegraph, the song is sung at a point in the musical where Sophie "dreams of cutting loose [from Sky] and heading abroad".

Synopsis

The song is about whether the narrator should leave behind everything she knows in order to pursue something greater. It is comparable to the song Belle from Beauty & the Beast in this sense. ABBA : Let The Music Speak argues that the song parallels Frida own life story, in regard to the "momentous decision she took in her early 20's to leave her young family in pursuit of singing stardom".
