Quit is a pop-punk band from Miami, Florida, formed in 1988. Quit was founded by Andre Serafini, Russell Mofsky and Addison Burns. Quit has released one studio album and been on numerous compilations and one DVD compilation. Quit released Earlier Thoughts in 1990 when most of the members were 18 and 19 years old. Quit has played shows with Green Day, Helmet, and Fugazi. Quit has recorded over four full-length albums of material.

History

Quit was part of the late 1980s to mid 1990s Miami music scene and local punk music scene. Band members hung out at skate ramps, surfed, and went to local shows and house parties mainly in one southern part of Miami. Quit was formed in the summer of 1988, when Andre Serafini and Russell Mofsky wanted to start a band. Andre played in a band, Chocolate Grasshopper, and Russell was playing with metal gods Cynic. They knew Addison Burns from the local skate scene and asked him to join. Omar Cuellar joined in on bass guitar. After a few months, Tony Rocha replaced Cuellar on bass, and Quit's first performance was on Labor Day weekend in 1988 for the Rock-A-Thon. Quit has had four full-time members since 1989: Andre Serafini on drums, Russell Mofsky on lead guitar, Addison Burns on lead vocals/rhythm guitar, and Tony Rocha on bass. Songs were written by band members, and they would work on the arrangements together. Quit released its first album, Earlier Thoughts, on Esync Records. Quit re-released Earlier Thoughts in 1996 on Rojo Records with two bonus tracks recorded live on the air from WLRN's Off the Beaten Path, an overnight punk radio program. Quit played consistently from 1988-1996.

Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism

Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism (QUIT!) is a gay San Francisco Bay Area political action group supporting "boycott, divestment & sanctions against Israel"; and opposing "Pinkwashing" of the "ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people". It was founded in early 2001 by a member of LAGAI-Queer Insurrection and individuals formerly associated with DAGGER (Dykes & Gay Guys Emergency Response), which was active during the first Gulf War.

Goals

The group "supports divestment, the right of return for all Palestinians, immediate Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian territories and describes Zionism as racism."

The group opposes "Pinkwashing" (promoting through an appeal to "queer-friendliness") of the Israeli government and its allegedly anti-Palestinian policies.

Bros

Bros (/brɒs/ BROSS;) was a British band active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, consisting of twin brothers Matt Goss and Luke Goss, and Craig Logan. The band's name comes from an abbreviation for the word 'brothers'. Formed in 1986, they were managed by former Pet Shop Boys manager Tom Watkins.

History

Bros's first single, "I Owe You Nothing", was initially released in 1987, and peaked at number 80 on the UK Singles Chart.

Their second single, "When Will I Be Famous?", became a breakthrough single for Bros, reaching the number 2 position on the UK Chart, and the number 1 on Ireland's IRMA chart. The song also reached the top ten in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Australia.

Bros followed up with single "Drop the Boy", which also peaked on the UK charts at number 2 and at number 1 in Ireland. They then released their debut album Push. The album went 4× Platinum in the UK British Phonographic Industry, and 5x platinum in Ireland, also hitting the number one spot in many countries across Europe, and number 4 in Australia. Bros released several more tracks from the album, including a reissue of "I Owe U Nothing", which reached number 1 in the UK and several other countries. Push was reissued in 2013 by Cherry Pop records to mark 25 years since the original release.

Person Pitch

Person Pitch is the third album released by American recording artist Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), released on March 20, 2007. The album was recorded by Lennox and mixed by Rusty Santos. Largely composed using a pair of Roland SP-303 samplers, Person Pitch was a stylistic leap from Lennox's previous album, the primarily acoustic Young Prayer (2004).

The album was met with universal critical acclaim, and later ranked among the top 10 albums of the 2000s in lists by Tiny Mix Tapes,Pitchfork, and Gorilla vs. Bear. Margaret Reyes of AllMusic noted its influence on a wide range of subsequent indie music.

Background

Five of the seven tracks on the album were released prior to the album, some of them with different mixing and/or lengths. "I'm Not" and "Comfy in Nautica" were released together as a double A-side single in 2005. "Bros" was released as a single on Fat Cat Records in late 2006. "Good Girl / Carrots" was released in early 2007 on a split 12" with the band Excepter via Animal Collective's own label Paw Tracks (on the single, the song is called, simply, "Carrots"). "Search for Delicious" was featured in 2005 on Volume 14 of music magazine Comes With a Smile's CD compilations. Finally, "Take Pills" was released as a 7" single on June 19, 2007. Despite Lennox's initial assertion that Person Pitch would be issued only on CD, it was announced shortly after its release that it would in fact be pressed on vinyl; the double LP was released on June 19.
