I Need a Dollar

"I Need a Dollar" is a song performed by Panamanian-American rapper and singer Aloe Blacc. Blacc co-wrote the song with Leon Michels, Nick Movshon and Jeff Dynamite.

It is the intro song for the HBO show How to Make It in America, and was featured as the iTunes Single of the Week. It also featured in the game Fight Night Champion. Blacc has performed the song live on Later... with Jools Holland, The Graham Norton Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Conan. In April 2011 it was featured in a commercial for Boost Mobile wireless services.

Music video

Two versions of the video have been released. The first, the "New York" version, features the screen being split in half. The right side shows Blacc singing inside an apartment while the left side shows a man walking through the streets of New York.

The second, the "Las Vegas" version directed by Derek Pike, shows Blacc walking alone along a highway in Nevada, and then hitching a ride to Las Vegas, where he finds a dollar coin on the casino floor, uses it to play a slot machine, and wins.

Variety store

A variety store (also pound shop, dollar store, and other names) is a retail store that sells a wide range of inexpensive household goods.

Variety stores often have product lines including food and drink, personal hygiene products, small home and garden tools, office supplies, decorations, electronics, garden plants, toys, pet supplies, remaindered books, recorded media, and motor and bike consumables. Kandi Koated

Kandi Koated is the second studio album by American R&B recording artist Kandi Burruss, released on December 14, 2010 in the United States on her independent label Kandi Koated Entertainment and Asylum Records. The album features production from Kandi amongst others including Jazze Pha, Ne-Yo, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Drumma Boy. Kandi promoted the album with her debut EP, Fly Above EP, released on October 29, 2009. The first single "Leave U" has reached number 89 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart The U.S. iTunes Store had a deluxe edition available for pre-order with 3 bonus tracks.

Background

In 2006, Kandi confirmed that she was working on her next album, which was originally set to be released that same year. Then, a promo single, "I Need", was released on December 19, 2006 for her second album. After the promo single failed to garner any success or attention, the album was put on hold indefinitely.

In 2008, Kandi began work on her second album. The album had several release dates in 2009; July, August, September, and November. The Fly Above EP was released on October 29, 2009, coinciding with the release of the album. It was used to promote the album and the lead single "Fly Above". Kandi made the decision to delay her second album into 2010 because she wanted to continue to record, but the main reason for the delay was because of the fact that Capitol Records hadn't signed her. The deal later fell through. Kandi also wanted to be able to promote her debut EP separately from her album.

Blurring the Edges

Blurring the Edges is the debut studio album by the American singer-songwriter Meredith Brooks. Produced by Geza X and David Ricketts. It was released through Capitol Records on May 5, 1997. It became a huge commercial success. Going double platinum in Canada and platinum in the United States.
