IC 2944, also known as the Running Chicken Nebula or the Lambda Centauri Nebula, is an open cluster with an associated emission nebula found in the constellation Centaurus, near the star Lambda Centauri. It features Bok globules, which are frequently a site of active star formation. However, no evidence for star formation has been found in any of the globules in IC 2944.
The ESO Very Large Telescope image on the right is a close up of a set of Bok globules discovered in IC 2944 by South African astronomer A. David Thackeray in 1950. These globules are now known as Thackeray's Globules. In 2MASS images, 6 stars are visible within the largest globule.

stay with me just for the day and
let your soul come and rest for a minute now
share your mind, if you have some time
i would love to sit and talk to you.
i would wait, if you asked me to,
but i, wont stay here forever now
i know your heart could keep me warm
just let me stay
[chorus]
i feel that
your eyes aren't always open
and these dreams, my
heart i cant deceive them
maybe the moon
will come down and save me
maybe your eyes
will stop me from falling
oh i'm drowning yea
oh i'm drowning yea
oh i'm drowning yea
oh i'm drowning yea
[chorus]
what can i say, what can i do
is there anyway to get close to you
i put myself into your shoes
and walk around these streets of yours
its cold outside, will you stay
but my heart is not far away
so take a breath and close your eyes
i want to hold you
[chorus]
i feel that
your eyes aren't always open
and these dreams, my heart
I cant deceive them
maybe the moon
will come down and save me
maybe your eyes
will stop me from falling
oh i'm drowning yea (you know that i can't lift my head)
oh i'm drowning yea
oh i'm drowning yea
oh i'm drowning yea (& i can't catch my breath
[chorus]
oh i'm drowning
i'm falling
