International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, or I.A.T.S.E., (full name: International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada) is a labor union representing over 125,000 technicians, artisans and craftspersons in the entertainment industry, including live theatre, motion picture and television production, and trade shows. It was awarded Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre in 1993.

About the IATSE

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada was founded in 1893 when representatives of stagehands working in eleven cities met in New York and pledged to support each other's efforts to establish fair wages and working conditions for their members. The IATSE has evolved since then to embrace the development of new entertainment mediums, craft expansion, technological innovation and geographic growth.

IATSE 514

IATSE 514 is a Quebec labor union representing around 1,600 technicians working in the motion picture industry. It is a local of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.), which represents more than 125,000 workers in entertainment throughout the U.S. and Canada. IATSE 514 is also affiliated with the Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec (FTQ), the largest labour federation in Quebec in terms of its membership.

IATSE 514 represents 20 departments.

Negotiation Sectors

On September 24, 2008, after lengthy negotiations between IATSE 514 (as well as IATSE local 667) and the Alliance québécoise des techniciens de l'image et du son (AQTIS), both parties agreed to divide the market into four negotiation sectors; IATSE would represent sectors 2 and 4, while AQTIS would represent sectors 1 and 3.
