IAI Lavi
The IAI Lavi (Hebrew: לביא, "Young Lion") was a single-engined fourth-generation jet fighter developed in Israel in the 1980s. Developed by Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), the choice to develop the Lavi was controversial, both with the Israeli public due to the enormous associated costs and particularly with the U.S. government due to competition with American jets on the export market. These issues led to its ultimate cancellation.
The Lavi was planned to be the mainstay of the Israeli Air Force, and considerable export sales for the aircraft had been forecast. The uniqueness of its design was in the combination of a small, aerodynamic, highly maneuverable plane, with sophisticated, software-rich systems, low armed drag, and the ability to carry a large payload at high speed and over long distances. As of 2012, two of the prototypes have been preserved, and have been on public display.
Development
Origins
Conceptually, the Lavi had its origins in the idea espoused by IAF commander and Minister of Defence Ezer Weizman that Israel's combat aircraft should fall into 'two-tiers' – a small number of high performance aircraft and a larger bulk with less sophistication and complexity. In the mid-1970s, the plane that was to become the Lavi was meant to be a small fighter-bomber to replace aging IAF aircraft such as the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk and IAI Kfir; however continuous revisions of the proposed aircraft led to the incorporation of more advanced technologies and ideas to produce an ambitious aircraft in the class of the F-16. The Israeli Air Force was estimated to have a requirement for 300 aircraft, 60 of which were expected to be combat-capable two-seat trainers.
Lavi
Lavi (Hebrew: לָבִיא, lit. Lion) is a kibbutz in the Lower Galilee area of Israel. It is a member of the Religious Kibbutz Movement.
Located 310 meters above sea level and 10 minutes from Tiberias, it falls under the jurisdiction of Lower Galilee Regional Council.
History
The kibbutz was founded in 1949 by the British branch of Bnei Akiva, a religious Zionist youth movement. Many of the founders were amongst the 10,000 Jewish children who were taken to the United Kingdom from Germany as part of the 1938-1940 Kindertransport following Kristallnacht during the Nazi regime in Germany. In its early years the Bachad movement raised money in the UK for the kibbutz as well as providing agricultural and educational training for Bnei Akiva and Bachad members in the UK on Thaxted Farm, Essex. Lavi was the first kibbutz where children lived with their parents, instead of in communal children's quarters where the children of other kibbutzim were housed and fed.
Among the founders of the kibbutz was Yehuda Avner, a British immigrant who became a diplomat and advisor to several Israeli prime ministers. The first couple to be married on the kibbutz, founders Michael and Marion Mittwoch, celebrated the birth of their 100th great-grandchild in January 2015.

The D.Gray-man anime and manga series features a cast of characters created by Katsura Hoshino. The series is set at the end of a fictional 19th century during which the Black Order searches for Exorcists, the "Apostles of God" chosen to wield a divine substance called Innocence, as they are the only ones who can destroy Akuma, weapons created by the Millennium Earl from souls of the deceased when humans curse God for the loss of loved ones, and stop the Earl's plan to destroy humanity.
The main character of the series is Allen Walker, a young Exorcist who trained under Exorcist General Cross Marian and is sent to officially join the Black Order. Early in the series, he is sent on missions with fellow Exorcists, on which he meets Yu Kanda, a cold and mysterious swordsman looking for a certain person from his past; the friendly Lenalee Lee, who has been an Exorcist her entire life; and Lavi, the cheerful and energetic future Bookman, chronicler of the secret history of the world. They travel the globe, retrieving the pieces of Innocence scattered during the Great Flood and recruiting new Exorcists while fighting the Earl and his Akuma. However, the Black Order soon learns that the Earl has help in the form of the Clan of Noah, a group of thirteen super-humans who can destroy Innocence and claim to be the true "Apostles of God." Both groups quickly begin searching for the Great Heart, the most powerful Innocence that can strengthen or destroy all the others, to bring an end to the war.
