Hypernova

A hypernova (pl. hypernovae or hypernovas) is a type of star explosion with an energy substantially higher than that of standard supernovae. An alternative term for most hypernova is "superluminous supernova" (SLSN). Such explosions are thought to be the origin of long-duration gamma-ray bursts.

Just like supernovae in general, hypernovae are produced by several different types of stellar explosion: some well modelled and observed in recent years, some still tentatively suggested for observed hypernovae, and some entirely theoretical. Numerous hypernovae have been observed corresponding to supernovae type Ic and type IIn, and possibly also at least one of type IIb.

History of the term

Before the 1990s, the term "hypernova" was used sporadically to describe the theoretical extremely energetic explosions of extremely massive population III stars. It has also been used to describe other extreme energy events, such as mergers of supermassive black holes.

In 1998, a paper suggesting a link between gamma-ray bursts and young massive stars formally proposed to use the term "hypernova" for the visible after-glow from those gamma-ray bursts. The energy of such events was speculated to be up to several hundred times that of known supernovae.

Hypernova is a New York-based Iranian rock band from Tehran. The band is made up of King Raam, Kami, Kodi & Jam . Raam is the lead vocalist, Kodi is the lead guitarist, Kami is the drummer and Jam plays bass. Hypernova also has session musicians playing synths & keys at their live shows. The band members' individual names are derivations of their actual first names, probably to avoid undue attention at home in Tehran, where playing rock music is dubbed as illegal and may lead to arrest, large fines, and even a public flogging,

"Through The Chaos" (2010) [Released : April 6th, 2010]

"Through The Chaos" is Hypernova's debut album and was released April 6, 2010 on Narnack Records. The album is produced by Herwig Maurer and mixed/engineered by Sean Beavan. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in 2008 but the official release was pushed back to 2010. During this time a few limited edition copies were given out by the band to fans.

Hypernova is the second studio album by electronicore band The Browning released on October 1, 2013 through Earache Records. On 10 October 2013 a remix of the band's song "Fifth Kind" was remixed by Ricky Horror of Motionless In White
