Members

History

Formed in 2008, the band started performing in various gigs, playing classics from The Beatles, Doobie Brothers, Cars, among others. Then in 2010, Generation began recording their debut album of all-original songs. The members describe their brand of music as new classic rock as showcased by its distinct yet melodic compositions, like the album’s carrier single "Love is Killing Me."

Music career

Star Records releases the self-titled debut album of Generation, a new rock band composed of sons of legendary Filipino recording artists. Its members include Joe and Mike Chan, sons of Jose Mari Chan, on bass and keyboards, respectively; Kowboy Santos, Sampaguita’s son, on lead guitar; and Ige Gallardo, son of Celeste Legaspi, on rhythm guitar.

Generation (1960s TV series)

Generation was a Canadian current affairs television series which aired on CBC Television in 1965.

Premise

The series examined contemporary topics and concerns in the context of the generation gap. Issues such as careers, marriage, Quebec's Quiet Revolution, religion or tobacco were the subject of various episodes.

For most of its run, Generation was a local Toronto programme hosted by Lloyd Robertson. In mid-1965, it was broadcast nationally with selected local episodes supplemented by episodes produced from various regions. June Callwood, Katie Johnson and Bill McVean were additional hosts during the national broadcasts.

Scheduling

The half-hour series aired locally on CBLT from late 1963 until mid-1966. It was broadcast on the national CBC network Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. (Eastern) from 4 August to 15 September 1965.

1837 generation

The 1837 generation (Spanish: Generación del '37) was an Argentine literary group. Influenced by the new romantic ideas, they rejected the cultural Spanish heritage of the country. They considered themselves the "sons of the May Revolution", as they were born shortly after it, and wrote some of the earliest Argentine literary works. They did not acknowledge any national roots in the indigenous peoples or the period of European colonization, focusing instead on the Revolution as the birth of the country.

The group established a literary hall in 1837, hence the name. Initially, they claimed to be neutral in the Argentine Civil Wars, but in time they wrote works biased against the federal governor Juan Manuel de Rosas (such as El Matadero by Esteban Echeverría or Facundo by Domingo Faustino Sarmiento) and became fully Unitarians.

Hunger (2001 film)

Hunger is a 2001 film written and directed by Maria Giese, based upon the 1890 novel of the same title by Norwegian author Knut Hamsun. This is the first digital feature film ever made based on a classic work of literature.

Hunger (Norwegian: Sult) is a novel by the Norwegian author Knut Hamsun published in 1890. Parts of it had been published anonymously in the Danish magazine Ny Jord in 1888. The novel has been hailed as the literary opening of the 20th century and an outstanding example of modern, psychology-driven literature.Hunger portrays the irrationality of the human mind in an intriguing and sometimes humorous manner.

Description

Written after Hamsun's return from an ill-fated tour of America, Hunger is loosely based on the author's own impoverished life before his breakthrough in 1890. Set in late 19th-century Kristiania, the novel recounts the adventures of a starving young man whose sense of reality is giving way to a delusionary existence on the darker side of a modern metropolis. While he vainly tries to maintain an outer shell of respectability, his mental and physical decay are recounted in detail. His ordeal, enhanced by his inability or unwillingness to pursue a professional career, which he deems unfit for someone of his abilities, is pictured in a series of encounters which Hamsun himself described as 'a series of analyses.'

Hunger (1966 film)

Hunger (Danish: Sult, Swedish: Svält) is a 1966 black-and-white drama film directed by Denmark's Henning Carlsen, starring Swedish actor Per Oscarsson, and based upon the novel Hunger by Norwegian Nobel Prize-winning author Knut Hamsun. Filmed on location in Oslo, it was the first film produced as a cooperative effort among the three Scandinavian countries.

With its stark focus on a life of poverty and desperation, the film is considered a masterpiece of social realism. Film historians suggest it is the first Danish film to gain serious international attention since the work of Carl Theodor Dreyer. It is one of the ten films listed in Denmark's cultural canon by the Danish Ministry of Culture.

Plot

In 1890 Kristiania (Oslo), an impoverished and lonely writer named Pontus (Per Oscarsson) comes to the city from the country. He stands on a bridge, overlooking running water, writing but clearly starving. He visits a pawnbroker several times. He sells his waistcoat for a few cents, then gives the money to a beggar. Other money that falls into his hands he also gives away. He has written an article that a newspaper editor (Henki Kolstad) agrees to publish if he makes some corrections, but Pontus is too proud to accept an advance when offered, so he leaves elated but still hungry. He begs a bone for his fictitious dog, which he gnaws on secretly in an alley. He often has the chance to make things better for himself, but his pride gets in the way, such as when he declines the much-needed help of a worried friend.
